Just pay the FPN......and go anyway, still cheaper. None of this bull cant afford it, don't try and justify it to yourself or anyone else. £60 is not worth worrying about, if your in the mindset to go in term time just do it and get on with life.
Don't even start with "oh the holiday is so educational and cultural" nonsense, its a holiday beer, sea and sand in most cases.

The only problem with that is they say they will only give you one fine in a 2 year period (off the top of my head) and they will take you to court the next time. So the second holiday will probably be alot more expensive.

Does anyone have an experience of multiple holidays?

Some holidays I remember till today (I'm 40 now). I'm now in higher education now. I don't think my attendance affected my level of education dramatically.

Really? You are 40 and still at school.

I totaly disagree with the government fineing parent's for trying to save money on taking there kids on hoilday the government could rejuice the 6 weeks hoildays were the kids only get fed up and say im bord split the 6 weeks in to two 3 weeks then parents could take there kids on hoilday in the cheaper price bracket so they have an obtion when to go on hoilday and not pay out rageious prices as the 6 weeks hoildays now and if the hoilday companys then put the price up in the 3 weeks hoildays the government fine the hoilday companys not the parents for just wanting to take there kids away on hoilday

So glad I can take my children on holiday or for any event when I want to with no chance of a fine.

And Martin, you need to reword you opening article.
It is NOT law that all children attend school. What IS the law, is that they receive an appropriate education.

Not all children go to school. All perfectly legal and above board.

Oh the irony of this! :rotfl:

Since when did holidays become a necessity and not a luxury, incidentally?

With such appalling spelling and grammar I can only assume that your parents took you on a lot of term time holidays when you should have been in school. :rotfl:

Education is not restricted to the classroom and the attitude that children can't learn similar skills on holiday, even 'beach holidays' is nonsense.

I took my primary school kids on their first long haul holidays some years ago. They missed 2 days of school. They learnt more during that week than any week at school.

It started with learning about flight times, looking at the screen and identifying their flight in order of time. It involves talking about the cities on the screen and identifying the countries. Then they learnt about customs and why we needed them, and finding directions to the gate.

They learnt about planes, and flying, we discussed how planes stay in the sky.

When we got there, they did sports, including swimming. Every evening, we played Rubix cube, for those who don't know, it involves a lot of strategic thinking and counting. We also took a trip around the island and they learnt about the local climate, local animals and plants, volcanoes. We bought postcards and local stamps, learning a few foreign words and local currency. They then wrote postcards to family members.

I could go on, but to sum it up, in one week, they had lessons in Maths, Reading, Writing, Biology, Physics, PE, Geology, Geography, Food Technology, Sociology, Spanish, Photography, Economy, ie. more lessons than any week they spent in class through their entire primary school years.

Few if any of which, these days, would help the school meet the strict pupil achievement milestones required of them. To do so would probably mean their teachers having to spend time, on a one to one basis, to bring them up to the expected standard. Meanwhile the rest of the class is receiving proportionally less time being taught.
