OK just gave the 30 days notice to Talk Talk and the operator told me that there could be up to a £129 re-connection fee to have the phone line reconnected if I plan to use another BB provider.
Is this a scare tactic as the line was already installed before I ever had had talk?

Scare tactics to try and keep you ......get out we while you can0 -
The line will require reconnection only if you let the contract end before you switch. The better method is to sign up with the new provider first. When you have a switch date, inform the outgoing provider and give notice.
It's not unknown for providers (or, rather, Openreach) to disconnect before the 30 days notice expires. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
So, I should seek to switch now then?0

All signed up with Sky now, if the TCB tracks its not a bad deal...0

Oh dear, TT put a block on my line straight after cancelling.
Still a quick call and they sorted it out0 -
I won't say I told you so...make sure they do not disconnect you before the switch date. Sky will probably provision a new line anyway, as this is probably an LLU to LLU switch. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks MM, Sky have been great and have already provisioned a new phone number for me and an activation date for when the TT ends. So its looking good, just need the TCB to track and its all good.
Good timing as well, as whilst the TT service has been good for 2 years the last few weeks I've had nothing but disconnections. I've changed router but still much the same. Not sure if its an exchange issue as I can't check on the TT website as its still down.
Guess I'll find out when the sky is installed.0
