There is no record in Experian for a credit check by Vodafone. This is confirmed. I have it in my credit report that I downloaded as a PDF.

I am not a Vodafone payg customer anymore. I ported the number to Three when I got back to the UK in 2014. To be more specific, I ported it to a Three 12-month pay monthly contract.

Who knows? One of their internal policies I guess?

I tried for a 12-month contract. I am not interested in a 30-day rolling SIM, as it is much more expensive. Definitely not a good deal.

I did not specifically give them an account number, because I don't remember it anyway. The number I used to have with them is the contact number they have. And I mentioned numerous times that I used to have a contract with them 3 years ago. And that I also had to pay £50 deposit.

I called them again today, two hours ago. The assistant on the phone saw everything in the account notes. He called their credit team and discussed the matter. He also mentioned to the team that there is no record by Vodafone for a credit check (according to my Experian report) and they did not know why this is happening. They gave me an e-mail address from a third party that does the credit checks for them and asked me to e-mail them directly explaining the situation, with the client number. They also told me to attach the Experian credit report, which shows no Vodafone records for credit checks. Also no other checks in that period of time, except Experian checks for my reports with no impact. I sent an e-mail an hour ago to their credit escalations third-party, but I did not attach the credit report at this point as it contains many personal details. Let's see what they come back with... probably tomorrow.

No, does the old Voda account and payments and closure show in your credit files ?

Everything Voda is third party staff on the phone, email, live chat.

Retail and head office are the only V staff. Its a major problem all these third parties trying to communicate between themselves.

I remember ordering a 30 day sim a few years ago, took 9 weeks to arrive after I was told my order not did not exist and I went elsewhere out of the blue months later it came through the post ???
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

My credit report has no record for the old contract. Possibly because it is too old now? Don't forget that they asked me to pay £50 deposit back then.

Thats why I think its weird, usually it falls off your credit file 6 years from settlement or default. Dad has accounts from 20 years ago that dont give full payment details but state settled.

Try the Equifax free months service, and Noodle - you can get a 12 month access code for free on the TalkTalk hack thread, see if Voda shows up anywhere.

I already have access to Noddle and nothing shows up. I can try Equifax, but is it worth it when they already told me that they are using Experian?
It was weird already when they decided that I failed the credit check without doing a credit check! :(

    Good news!:T

Vodafone's third party did a manual credit check today, which was immediately reflected in my Experian credit report with an impact. They replied to my e-mail apologising for the whole situation and opened up my account for, not one but, two lines!

I went to the local Store earlier today. They confirmed that everything was clear from the credit escalations team and I am now holding my new SIM with a SIM Only contract.

I feel so relieved that in the end I won!

They asked me not to pop it in the phone until tomorrow 16:00, in order to let the port from Three complete. Although they told me that I could pop it in straight away, but it could affect the process, leaving me without signal for a period of time tomorrow.

You just cant get the staff!

Voda are a diabolical mess, learn that always use Voda live chat on the website and send yourself a transcript of the convo, all these third parties serving V are a mess, the left and right arm not aware of each other!

    Congrats ;)

All companies do there own internal credit score and if the score is accepted then they will carryout an external check with the CRA. Unfortunately in your case you did not score high enough.
  • Sorry for the late reply. I feel that the e-mail I was given was confidential and for one use only, therefore I think that I should not share it.

Try calling their phone sales, as I did, after acquiring your Experian credit report and explain that they have not performed any credit checks and Experian has confirmed that. Then tell them that you want to send your Experian report to the escalations team to prove that they have not performed a credit check and I believe that they will give you the email address.

But first, you need your get your credit report from Experian, verify that they have not performed any credit checks and save it as a PDF to have proof. You can do that by either registering with Experian's free 30-day trial (remember to cancel over the phone before the 30th day) or get your report for £2.
