Property in Spain

Does anyone have an experience in purchasing Spain property? Is it difficult to register? Please let me know, I have a lot of questions.

I have friends and family that live there. It is an absolute minefield. You need a lawyer that really knows what he is doing and that can communicate effectively in English. Do LOTS of research.
One important question is why would you buy? Rents in most parts of Spain are so cheap I would question whether it is prudent to tie your money up in property. Stick your money in the bank, let the interest pay the rent and you still have a liquid asset if you need it.0 -
Correct.
Renting abroad is the way to go.
no maintenance charges, no painting, no pool chemicals to buy, no unexpected bills, if they build a motorway at the end of the garden rent somewhere else next year.
And you've still got your money in your pocket0 -
I fear a potential attack of processed pork products from the OP.0

Thanks everyone for your answers and tips! I know that rent sometimes much more beneficial, but my idea is to invest in property overseas. I`m looking for potential profitable solutions all over the world and according to my broker (Tranio company) the real estate in Spain is quite cheap. So if I sold my property I could purchase quite big town house and perhaps move there someday or just resell it.0

Speculating with 'spare' cash is one thing; selling your home to buy in another Country is another. If you sell a 'big town house' in Spain, it may not, for example, realise enough capital to buy back into the UK market at the level you currently enjoy. Also there's the Spanish economy.
Remember that your broker earns when you spend so its vested interest is in getting you to invest. Keep your eyes open and head screwed on.Mornië utulië0 -

Property in Spain is an extremely risky investment. If your broker is suggesting this is a good investment I would sack him!0 -
Might be worth sending a pm to this member who I believe lived in Spain for some years and owned property there.

Hi Amilia
You have an unusual posting history on MSE.
And you seem to be mentioning/promoting Tranio in lots of places:

And looking at the last comment on this page, it looks like a comment of yours about Tranio was deleted as spam: http://www.city-data.com/forum/delaware/2456902-house-prices-delaware.html
Do you have any connection with Tranio?
Are you a spammer?0 -
We considered ourselves very fortunate to be able to buy, live in Spain for eight years and then sell, without losing loads of money. Most people lose or can't sell. Be very afraid.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
