hmm maybe i just have TASTE  and don't live in the 1970s ;)

Fine, you do realise that your " taste " is the same as 99.9% of the UK population, how boring.

My burgundy coloured suite was imported last year from Italy, from a specialist manufacturer, so hardly 1970's.

Still, if your " TASTE " extends to white only, that speaks volumes.

I didn't realise you were serious, Inactive. I took post 34 to be a joke joining the many other humerous ones.
I just didn't like the catty undertones of Rachel's posts (31 and 43) and now knowing that you are serious and she probably knew that I just think she's a cheeky c0w.
    .

The real problem is in the UK, everyone seems to be carried along blindly by what is dictated to them as " Fashion " or " Taste ", anybody that goes against the trend is insulted and attempts are made at ridicule, as in the poor example in Rachel's post.

I have 2 bathrooms, one is still white, I far prefer the new burgundy one, I will be changing the white one once I have chosen an alternative from my suppliers in Italy, unfortunately I am not able to locate anything suitable in the UK.

All of the UK suppliers seem to have only tasteless ( my opinion ) sanitary ware available.

A bathroom is so much more than the suite. The white suite always looks clean and you can liven up the bathroom with the paint, tiles, furniture, etc etc.

The shape and style of the suite make a difference too. An ultramodern shape has the wow factor, especially when teamed with a dramatic colour scheme.

When we moved into our house, I couldn't wait to get rid of the peach sink and mustard(!) loo combo (against a mix of green and blue tiles) in the cloakroom, and the 80s bronze bathroom suite (complete with bronze tiles and smoked glass mirrors) in our ensuite. We replaced the whole thing with an ultramodern white suite, natural stone tiles and coloured accessories which tie with the colour scheme of the bedroom. The effect is really dramatic, and people always comment on how great our bathroom is. It looks about twice the size it was too.

Are we still talking about toilets here? ;)

we'll be ripping out our pink/peach suite soon. It's not hideous, but white is so bright and looks clean (except when it's dirty obviously).
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

    Indeed, and " one man's meat, is another man's etc. etc. ".. .. ..;)
  • Try pergamon, a kind of pinkish white. Light and reflective like white but warm with it. Quite agree, white is clinical and boring and unimaginative, but let's not go back to avocado, dark blue and chocolate brown. Once had a sun king suite which raised the psychological temperature nicely without being too objectionable, also peach which had the same effect without being garish. Builders/developers, wake up.

Thanks, but I was not after a hideous lemon yellow one, rather a more tasteful muted colour.

You're more than welcome to our 'tasteful' pampass (pale greeny-beigy-cream) Ideal Standard suite in great condition, being replaced purely so we can have white :D

You can just see the toilet here - I'll even throw in the stencils (thats a joke btw)

I'm actually deadly serious - its only going to end up as landfill somewhere so pm me if you're interested - we're just off the M1, very accessible :)
