new home-anyone know how 2 activate phone/broadband cheaply!

about to move to cornwall from yorkshire. know my new place has a connection, but it's not active. i wanted to do a cheap package through talk talk, but they say that i need to activate the line through BT and they will tie me in for a year and do a penalty if i leave. AGHHH ... i am only renting the place for a few months but DEFINITELY NEED broadband and a phone line and DEFINITELY NEED TO DO IT CHEAPLY! does anyone know how i can do this without being tied into an expensive contract. I am relocating, and plan to rent for a few months but ultimately try and buy somewhere, so i don't want to incur two lots of expensive setting myself up costs....

hope i'm making sense, hope someone out there can help!

You can't get a cheap line/BB - someone has to pay! Your only real alternative would be to use mobile but that's not cheap either. Even if TalkTalk would install a line/BB for you, they would tie you in for 18 months.

cheers... i just wanted to avoid the tie in, but will give bt a ring and see if the tie in is just for that line, or if you move in the same area that is covered... not sure what the score is on that one. also will check out virgin as they might do some kind of cable line.... i noticed a thread on similar subject, so it's helping ..... moving costs so much i was hoping there would be ways round the tie in, but methinks not...
