Wow! So many people with assumptions!
As it happens, I've had a really crappy run through this year. I guess I'm the only one ever who's had a bad year. Bills have been the least of my concern. I don't have to justify myself anyway.
As I thought would be obvious on these forums, I use paperless billing.
The company has already accepted that they didn't send the letter. They have currently offered me £45. This seemed a little low, so I thought I would come on here for help.
As for "Captain Obviously" you shouldn't assume so much. As far as I'm concerned, you've just made a complete !!! of yourself!
The point people are trying to make, is that you agreed a contract; this stated your tariff would revert to Standard when the contract finished. That part is uncontroversial, and frankly, not difficult for most people to grasp.
They've offered you £45 because energy companies are desperate to keep outstanding complaints down. I certainly can't see what they've actually done wrong here - they are not obliged to tell you when your fixed tariff is about to end - they told you when you took it out!
In your shoes, I would delightedly accept the £45 [Strike]I'm not entitled to[/Strike], and move on with my life.0 -

The SLCs make it clear that customers have to be told a tariff is ending in writing, 49 days before it ends. The supplier has admitted they didn't do this.
If they've done this for one customer I suspect they've done this for a lot of customers and would be in line for a fine.Renewal of Fixed Term Supply Contracts
22C.3 The licensee must prepare a statement (hereafter referred to as an “SLC 22C Statement of Renewal Terms”) which:
(a) is set out in Writing;
(b) contains a prominent title which clearly informs the Domestic Customer that the fixed term period of their existing Fixed Term Supply Contract is due to end and they need to consider their options;22C.4 The licensee must:
(a) provide a Domestic Customer with a copy of the SLC 22C Statement of Renewal Terms which complies with paragraph 22C.3 no earlier than 49 days and no later than 42 days before the fixed term period of their Fixed Term Supply Contract is due to end; and
(b) with the exception of the Notice described in paragraph 22C.5, ensure that the SLC 22C Statement of Renewal Terms is separate from any other document (including, but not limited to, a Bill, statement of account, Annual Statement or marketing material) and is provided to the Domestic Customer separately from any other document (including, but not limited to, a Bill, statement of account, Annual Statement or marketing material).0 -
Thank you for providing backed information, rather than just an opinion.
I was pretty certain I remembered there being some law/ regulation/ guideline such as you posted.
Many Thanks Bark010
