Using radio apps abroad

The ads on TuneIn are meaningless. It is an audio streamer so you don't see the adverts when you shut the cover on your phone or switch apps.

I'm in Cyprus and use TuneIn, works great for BBC radio channels amongst many others. The BBC Radio app is rubbish here (for me), even although downloaded in the UK. Haven't tried the Heart app mentioned above, because TuneIn works for me.
The link above for Mikesradioworld, takes you to BBC radio player pop up, exactly the same as if accessing through your web browser, which again doesn't work for me here.

If you want to watch UK tv programmes download Filmon, gives you live UK channels (BBC, ITV, 4, 5 and some others).

Not really interested in TV channels, with the exception of E4, which I'm currently using to watch just one programme, on catchup.

Tune in and bbc radio player work fine abroad unless there is prog such as football or cricket test coverage on five live 5 extra which is covered by rights restrictions. It tells you it is blocked , I get around it by using a vpn to the uk

As above, BBC Radio app works just fine abroad, certainly for Radio 4, Radio 4 Xtra, World Service, which frankly are the most useful for a link to home when you're feeling homesick!
