Nothing coming on the market

We have been looking for about 3 months but just got really serious in the past month. We have done 10 viewings so far. All the different agents are saying the same thing that nothing is coming on the market at all. Where as they would normally have 15-20 properties a month coming on they are getting 4-5. And this is all different agents.
I'm hoping it picks up again soon as we are motivated buyers have a good deposit and can move as quickly or as slowly as the seller wants. Just nothing for us to buy yet!

This is what is driving up prices, very limited supply where I am and prices rising.
It really doesn't matter how motivated you are if there are another 10 motivated buyers out there competing with you.
Most people in my area have nothing to sell as they know they have no chance of buying if they have not go cash or are sold already so being a first time buyer doesn't really give you any advantage.
Make friends with some estate agents, I have bought properties that have never come to market because EAs can't deal with the influx of viewers and just want a quick sale.
Good luck, just persevere0 -
Time of year. I wouldn't put mine up in October/November. You can be sure when they all come on next year the prices will be higher to test the market.Been away for a while.0

There's been nothing coming on the market all year... it first became apparent in Feb & March that there were seriously reduced numbers of new instructions and everyone was saying not to worry as it's just due to people holding off until after the general election and once that's out of the way the market would get back to normal... if only!0

people don't put their houses on at this time as you would need to wait to register for schools. At least out of London at least."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

When in the year do things pick up again with people wanting to sell?0

What area are you in out of interest?
This is exactly it near us. We pulled out of a purchase end of July and really struggled. Managed to find house we now live in in August but gosh there really was/is so little about. Everyone said it would pick up in Sept and it just didn't. Anything up for more than a fortnight and not sold is overpriced/has issues around here.
Springtime is meant to be the optimum time I believe but I think in July there was the highest number of buyers registered with EA's for about a decade. Competition is evidently high so even in spring I am imagine competition will be fierce for the good houses.0 -

We are in Bournemouth. And it's stupid crazy. It feels like 1000 buyers per property.0 -

Yep. We are looking in a 10 mile radius of Bournemouth and it seems like it anywhere. Our budget doesn't help as we don't have a huge budget so competing with all the other FTB.0
