I think you should have gone to Vision Express and got them within the hour. I assume you agreed to the eight day turn around when you paid?
not all of theirs done in 1 hr, found this out when needed urgent replacement after breaking a pair so went there thinking it would be and hr, was 5 days. hey ho got 2 pairs now so covered so to sayI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
Strange, my doctor told me that eyesight problems don't cause migraines ? By the way, Vision Express don't provide every pair of glasses in 1 hour. My prescription sunglasses from them took 3 weeks.0

I wonder if op could quote their prescription?
When i go to my excellent independent optom i can do an eye test, a contact lens eye health check and retinal scans in an hour.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
I love Specsavers.
Went there yesterday.
Depends on the lens as to how long they take.
I am hard up at the moment and knew I was going to get a big bill due to me wearing varioical lenses and me suffering from migraines and other eye problems (meaning I need custom made varifocal lenses, the £159 ones)
I researched boots along with numerous other ones including online ones and I simply couldn't match what I got with Specsavers.
i could have got one pair with the £49 frames meaning with anti glare (which cost me £30 not £50) and the £10 eye test (voucher available from their web site) it wold have cost me me £248.
But for me, paying the extra £20 on the £69 frames meant I got the two for one offer so for £268 I also got a nice pair of sunglasses also with my custom varifical lenses.
Yes that is a lot of money but it's cheaper than elsewhere for two pairs and many, especially online sites, offering cheap varifocals, the lenses they offer have a very small field of vision compared to mine (Spec savers also do cheap varifocal lenses starting from £49 but I couldn't use them)
And if I don't get on with my lenses I can change at no cost
I have to wait 12 days for my main glasses to be ready. No problem. I have to wait longer for my sunglasses as they want to make sure I'm happy with my new lens before making the other pair (which makes sense to me)
I also like how long the appointments take, I don't want to be in and out in 10 mins, I want them to check my eyes thoroughly.
Them comparing photos of the back of my eyes from yesterday to two years ago and 4 years ago, showing me how there's no change in the optic nerve or the weird black spot is also very reassuring (my sight is so bad/weird I sometimes seriously think I must be going blind).
I wold happily recommend them to anyone. The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

I agree with Iwanttobefree. I'm another fan of specsavers, they're very thorough and it's good value for money.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

I think you should have gone to Vision Express and got them within the hour. I assume you agreed to the eight day turn around when you paid?
Specsavers price for my varifocal lens £159, Vision express £185, Boots £170
Specsavers anti glare £30, Vision express £35, Boots £0
Specsavers, £69 frames or above 2 for one.
Vision express, £99 off any 2nd pair of glasses if you buy frames costing £149 or above, or, 2 for one if you buy from their Ted Baker range with frames starting at £189
So for me to get two pairs at Vision Express would cost me:
£99 off deal: would cost me £639 instead of Specsavers £268
£149 for frames, £185 for lens, £35 anti glare = £369 for first pair, and £99 off second pair would cost me £270 for second pair
2 for 1 deal: Would cost me £409 instead of Specsavers £268
£189 frames, £185 lens, £35 antiglare
And they don't make it clear if I could get my second pair as prescription sunglasses in those deals
Vision express also state "Depending on your prescription and the options you have chosen will depend on how long it is before you can have your new glasses; but generally we aim to have them with you in a couple of days or by a time agreed with you."
Boots: 1/2 price on all additional glasses (including prescription sunglasses)
So to get two pairs would cost me £330 compared to £268 at Specsavers.
£50 frame, £0 antiglare, £170 lens = £220 for first pair and £110 for 2nd pair
Boots say, "When you order your glasses at your opticians practice, you will be given a collection appointment. Your glasses will be ready about 7 to 10 days after you place your order"
I researched this a fair bit before going to specsavers and I couldn't find cheaper for my lens. If I wanted a 3rd or 4th pair for some reason then Boots work out cheaper as all additional pairs are half price. The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

Were you really in the test room for 2 hours? or does that include waiting time. 2 hours is excessive for even the most difficult patient unless you are been tested by a pre-registration optometerist ( and even then is a long time ).
If they quoted 8 days I suspect it was a complicated prescription that no opticains would be able to do on the premessis.
The fire is obviously out of their hands!
Specsavers are not franchises the majortiy of the shares remain with head office however given the spectacles were presumbly sitting in the store with the fire it would be unreasonable for another store to make them up again when presumbly with in another day or to the store would be accesible?0
