Shouldn't have gone to specsavers

DO NOT GO TO SPECSAVERS IT IS A SCAM! , I have been having problems with migraines for a month now, went to my doctor and he suggested getting my eyes tested as this could be the cause of my migraines. I chose specsavers as they were offering free eye tests (what a ingeniously evil way to reel people in, i now realize). I had my eye test which took much longer than expected (around two hours) which really ate in to my working day as I was expecting it to take a maximum of 30 mins. I had my eye test and was given my prescription i decided to go for the two for one deal which was an absolute rip off it cost me £145 for two pairs of glasses (not designer or anything particularly special) and then charged me an extra fifty pound for anti glare which little did i know was included as standard in boots opticians. I paid for my glasses and was then told it would be a further eight days for my glasses to be ready which i thought was ludicrous as i had no glasses to use as this was my first eye test, considering how much i had been suffering with migraines i thought they would provide a much quicker service, but i suppose not.

So eight days and several migraines later i finally set on my journey to pick up my glasses, phoned up beforehand just to double check they were ready and to my shock, horror was told that the store had been closed due to smoke damage from a fire in the nearby area, I asked whether my glasses could be sent elsewhere for me to pick them up or when the store would be re opening, they gave me no clear cut response. Of course i was livid i had been offered no emergency replacement, money off or compensation and no solution, i continued to pursue them for a few days, to no avail nobody seemed to know anything and no one was willing to help, or sympathetic to the situation, I contacted head office asking whether i could get a refund, emergency replacement or discount off the glasses i had paid for again to no avail no one seemed to know anything or be of any help.

The customer service is absolutely atrocious, little did i realise that every specsavers is franchised so i could not go into another one to get a free pair of glasses, they expected me to pay more, which for the ludicrous £145 i already paid was just insanity.

So here i am four days later clueless to what to do, without refund and replacement and more importantly still without glasses. All i want is my money back and my glasses for free i believe that is the least they can offer for such atrocious service they have given
DO NOT GO TO SPECSAVERS! they are overpriced, will take your money and not give you any quality service, i have since been offered better quotes from boots and other independent opticians for a lot cheaper with a maximum waiting time of two days, I recommend these not specsavers!

Firstly the first half of your rant is purely based on your own incorrect assumptions and lack of research.

It is not specsavers fault you didnt leave enough time for your appointment. In fact I just went on to book an appointment and it gave me a two hour slot.

Its not Specsavers fault you expected glasses made to your prescription to be immediately available.

Its not Specsavers fault you chose more expensive glasses (their offer is valid on ones from £70, you didnt have to spend more?)

Its not Specsavers fault you chose to go with their 2 for 1 deal, not the free anti glare deal.

If the other opticians and Boots are better, you should have researched first.

The fact it got smoke damaged is beyond their control. I don't know the extent of the damage but perhaps it isnt safe for them to go in and get customer details to stop them being so 'livid.'

I think you should have gone to Vision Express and got them within the hour. I assume you agreed to the eight day turn around when you paid?

So why not sue the place that had the fire for your glasses not being ready on time...?

    Think of the children!!!

    Seriously?

    1) They are two hour time slots - clearly you want them to be thorough! if it was 30 minutes you would no doubt moan your presecription was not suitable.

    2) you agreed and paid the price, and they always make the time frame clear when purchasing. If you were unhappy, you had the option of taking your prescription elsewhere.

    3) you are p*ssed off with them because a nearby fire has forced their business to shut??? Again, seriously?l

Ps - none of the above points are Specsaver's fault. 1 and 2 are your fault, and 3 is out of their control.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Have you even looked at the prices others charge of glasses?

Even if you factor in the free deals that they are offering I am willing to bet specsavers will come out a lot cheaper.

I use specsavers and whilst I agree their customer service can be a bit hit and miss, they are cheap so I put up with it. I have a choice I could go to a more expensive shop and maybe get treated a bit better but personally the monetary saving is worth more to me.

what ever you say about them you really can't accuse specsavers of being over priced!!

If your eyesight isn't so bad that you required a doctor to tell you to get your eyes checked, I daresay that waiting a few days extra for your glasses is not as big a deal as you are making of it.

The migraines (at least in most circumstances) come from squinting your eyes to focus rather than actually not wearing glasses (ie try not squinting, just accept its blurry and the headaches should disappear).

The situation isn't ideal but its not one thats came about because of their negligence, its circumstances beyond their control.

Failure to do your research on what other suppliers charge doesn't make it a 'scam'.

I'm struggling to understand your several migraines in the space of eight days, be honest they are just headaches.

I suffer with migraines, thankfully only occasionally some people suffer a lot worse, but it is not something that comes and goes in the space of a day. The shortest one I've ever had was two days and the longest almost eight days. They get so bad you have to lock yourself in a dark and silent room, any light makes your head pound and the room spin, sound often does the same and it doesn't just affect your head, it can be flu like aching symptoms throughout your whole body with dizziness and sickness added in.

Even once the worst symptoms pass it can be several more days until you are fully recovered.

They can last a couple of hours, not everyone had the same symptoms.
  • so you've had migraines for a month and then kick off when the opticians take a week to make up your glasses.
