Iptv

Do bbc and itv HD channels come thru aerial or Iptv with Bt?
It pays to challenge

  • The BT box just uses the standard Freeview signal for regular terrestrial channels. BBC, ITV and the like are not transmitted via broadband.

On a YouView - thru the aerial.

On a BT Vision box - over your broadband. But you'd only be supplied with one of those if you wanted Sky Sports 5.

Are you sure a BT Vision box doesn't use the aerial feed for the standard terrestrial channels? doesn't match my experience.

Indeed, I didn't mean standard definition, just standard freeview. Ie not premium channels.

I always thought freeview was via the aerial and premium channels via the internet.

Via BT Vision boxes SD Freeview channels are recieved via an aerial. Freeview HD channels are over IP only, because BTV boxes don't contain the necessary DVB T2 tuners required for HD reception.
