Offer accepted.....vendors not found anywhere after 5 months.....

We had an offer accepted on our dream house in June this year, and were told at the time we were chosen (a lot of competition) due to the fact we were flexible and had no chain.
All communication has been via the estate agent, and the vendors still haven't found somewhere suitable.
How long do we wait until we put some pressure on them, or ask to speak to the vendors themselves?
We are worried that if it takes much longer, they will increase the price (which they said they wouldn't via the estate agents).
Any advice?

Start looking at other properties and if you find another one you like better, tell these vendors to poke it.0

All depends how badly you want the property. Yes, they can increase the price although they promised not to, and equally you can refuse, or withdraw your offer. No free lunch, and no free laptop

We just don't know how long we should wait!0

I would argue 5 months was a more than accommodating time to wait. Start threatening to withdraw your offer if your not in by a certain date.
Be careful your mortgage offer doesn't expire (you could use that as an excuse to hurry them?)0 -
5 months is a long time (I think) for them still to be looking. If/when they eventually find somewhere to buy you will still be waiting for them to have surveys and searches done and trying to get their vendor in a position to form the chain and exchange. That's why I suggested you keep your options over and start looking at other properties.0

You can often get obsessed with what you think is your "dream property" but quite often something else can come along and you wondered what all the fuss was about. I did it with a house a few years ago I loved but had a nightmare seller, now I drive past thinking i'm glad I did not buy it.
5 months is more than enough time to wait but imo putting pressure on the seller is not going to make things go any faster, if anything they may use it as an excuse and think sod it we'll put it on for another 10k. If I was in your situation (and I have been) I would just keep looking, keeping your options open and don't burn any bridges. For all you know the only reason they have not put it back on is because you have not kicked up a fuss. Also remember just because you found your "Dream property" they are trying to find theirs which is difficult in a rising and competitive market.0 -
No offer is confirmed until exchange, I would walk away IMO, there's nothing stopping the vendors from being greedy and re marketing at a higher price.
Look elsewhere unless the vendor has got off their bums and started looking."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I agree with Pixie and the others on here. FIVE MONTHS?! And they still haven't found anywhere? Stuff that, I would be looking for somewhere else. Like someone said, you may think this is your dream home, but there is something better out there.

What is your position? Renting? Living with folks?Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!

If the vendors were serious about selling they would of gone into renting for 6 months.
Find another "dream house".0 -
Personally I would keep my options open, you don't need to say anything to the vendors or the EA, but just start looking again and if something you like that is more proceedable turns up then go for it.0
