Hi, I'm off to Copenhagen before Christmas.
I have a Metro Bank debit card so no fees for using it in Europe for ATM cash and purchases.
Do the Danes charge a fee/levy for non danish cards in shops, cafes etc?
Many thanks

As I remember quite a lot of places didn't take cards so don't assume, but as you've got the Metrobank card you can get cash out free. I don't remember anywhere surcharging for CC payments.0

They do take cards, actually in Copenhagen cards are king and the Danes are now considering "no money" shops, that was on the news when i was there.
I know for a fact if you use the ATM with a UK card you get charged a percentage (around 2 to 3 i think it was) plus £2.50p per transaction, so if your drawing cash draw a lot at a time.
No idea about if they charge a fee in shops as well.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
I never got charged anything by a Danish ATM. What card did you use? It was probably your bank charging you not the ATM.They do take cards, actually in Copenhagen cards are king and the Danes are now considering "no money" shops, that was on the news when i was there.

Sounds like you were using a 'card from hell' as defined by MSE - a Metro Bank card will incur no such charges..
