Samsung repair rip off

The only repair centre in Central London listed on Samsung's website is the Samsung Experience Store on Oxford Street in London. I took my phone there because it was stuck in headphone mode and was channelling all sound through the audio jack. Two days later I received a text to say that even though the phone was still within the warranty period it could not be repaired under warranty because the fault was due to liquid ingress. I enquired how much a repair would cost out of warranty and was told that the device was 'beyond economical repair'. I was then immediately offered the option to purchase a new phone with a 10% discount. I retrieved the phone and took it to an independent phone shop who repaired the phone within an hour while I waited and charged me £40. It now works perfectly as before.

£40 does not seem to me to be 'beyond economic repair' but then it turns out that the Samsung Experience Store is actually Carphonewarehouse of course are in the business of persuading you to buy a new phone. Call me a cynic but that's what I call a con.

Bad luck. Is this outfit different to the Samsung repair centres. I took a Samsung galaxy s5 with a faulty camera into the Reading centre and they did a great job of replacing it.
Really pleased that they offer a 2 year warranty.
