AC and others reading my earlier posts - I've been corrected by JamesD from the pensions forum page that I am incorrect regarding basing the maximum payment into the SIPP on previous years earnings, it should be on current years earnings, in your case up to when you left employment. I did say I was no expert! I'll amend the posts later.
  • Thanks harz .
    Pensions = complication :)

hey AC, all ready to exchange this week?
  • Hi Anna :)
Well, I've heard nothing for a change. I would assume that on Friday I would get the paperwork to sign and that's it .
I sent email to my solicitor on Sunday , telling him I want to proceed with the purchase .
It looks like the end of march , the flat will be mine .

Forgot to ask : what's happening on your side of things ?

Exciting times for you :) I'm really pleased you've found somewhere.

Well, things have changed for me.

I had planned to put the house back on the market about now but....

...My boyfriend (god I detest that word for someone my age...39!) has given up his rental property and last weekend moved in with me. This means I really don't have to sell and can start paying off my debts at a pretty speedy rate I hope.

I'm going to be approaching creditors soon with some F&F figures which would be a relief.

    Thanks Anna .
Sounds like things are falling into place for you too .
    Great stuff !
Don't you mean , your 'partner' has moved in with you ?:)
I'm in a similar position regarding dettlements etc.
The plan for me , is to let payplan get back to me in June as promised
If that doesn't work out ,,I'll phone the creditors ( probably more than once ), and get the best price I can .

  • Not yet mrs. P :)
I guess everything takes time . I would expect the formularities this week . I received an email from the Lettings agency asking me , if I need to extend contract after end of may . I haven't replied just yet, for obvious reasons .

I almost forgot, that for the first two months, I'll be paying 2 lots of council tax . Not too much of an issue , but I'll have to watch things.
For example , I'm currently not paying water rates. From April, I will be . Only for 1 property though.

I will be paying for 2 lots of energy bills also. I'm still having Jip with utility warehouse at present. I'm paying estimated bills, as the meter is faulty and they haven't rectified the problem. I threatened to go to the ombudsman. They are more aware now, but are a mess.
I just don't want my last one or 2 bills to be astronomically high because of their incompetence .
I think that's everything covered, for now :)
  • Well..
my solicitor is away until Tuesday next week . However, I may be dealing with his colleague( I have done in the past), between now and then .
I have contract sent to me via email, for me to print off , sign and return asap. I will send this tomorrow via Royal Mail special delivery.

My solicitor did ask if it would be ok to exchange and complete on the same day ;( next Friday 31/03). The answer is no, so the contract will be sent tomorrow .
I will have to have a chat with my bank I assume , to make sure the full amount payable will go through on demand without any problems

I'm not sure if I have to sign anything else on day of completion baring in mind I don't want to commute to London unless absolutely necessary . My last day in my present location , is 31 may. I have been approached by letting co. and landlady offering an extension if necessary . Nice to know, but it looks that I will purchase my new flat on fri 31 of this month and as it will empty I will have plenty of time to get everything to my liking by 31may.
