  • Thanks folks !:)
I will checkout those books ( or something similar ) very soon .Thanks LL
I will have a chat with my friend tonight ( he's a web designer . Infact ,most of my friends use macs for their jobs )
The problem with computers ( macs especially ): The computer may be fine ..however it's when you want to buy an application and then find you cannot purchase it after all. Why?Because the software you want to buy will not run on older macs ( usually 3-5 years ). Then it comes down to how much memory and how much ram you have on your computer . Then there's external hard drives . I have one ,but it's full . TBH ,it's not me chucking money around . It's just that I've been hanging on for ages , wearing worn clothes that were ripped / too small etc .
I had to buy one or 2 bits ,buthave calmed down now .
I'm waiting for the letters from creditors . Then I will go into everything with a fine tooth comb and keep on top of everything the best I can .
I started reading a book ' the power of less', which I picked up from foyles in Waterloo a few months back . It's one of the only books I took with me and will read it when I settle .
Thanks for all your good wishes :)

i'm a total MAC person AC and would not buy anything else. I'm just wondering apart from websurfing the job applications what other software you need at the moment?

If you really have to have a new computer to enable you to get started then you can register a business now.....and then reclaim your "capital investment" once you start making money and are faced with a tax bill. Just keep all receipts.

Registering is simple and can be done online. My son set up a company a couple of weeks ago for his fledgling photography business.

Actually it was just before his camera was stolen, before he even got a chance to get going, so of course he hasn't done anything yet.

Doesn't matter at least it's in place and when he does replace his equipment he can declare it as capital start up expenditure.

The power of less is a great book too. It does make you stop and think.
  • If you decide you must have it now, at least use the shop to decide which one you want but buy it through topcashback to get a discount - Apple and John Lewis are on there.

    Happy Birthday AC.

Another word of caution from me about money frittering on toys (a computer for hobbies is a toy). You may want all this fancy software for your hobbies which is also expensive but is it really more of a priority than your new home or the council tax for the next 6 months? Another reminder you need a budget so you know how much treat money you can afford each week rather than just spending willy nilly. You obviously feel you have deprived yourself over the last few years and now you have a few pennies in the bank are tempted to splurge on things. I would resist this urge until you have a clear idea of your finances going forward.

  • Wow ! Loads of good input :) Thanks smodlet also .:)
I'll be going to John Lewis (3 year guarantee ) if I get it . Wil be bending my friends ear tonight . The applications I buy are music/. recording related .
Strange thing this condition I have : This morning gym . Then I feel lethargic /lazy . I go to get groceries ( about a 12 min walk each way),and am breathless. I think the weight will come off regardless . Lots of long roads and hills . I do wonder how I kept working through this condition .
Is it the fact that I've burnt myself out throughout the year, and everything's caught up with me ? I'm puzzled .
Having said that , this year has already trounced last year which was my worst ever .(2010 just a little behind that ). :)

I think what happens is that whilst we have to keep going we do.....even if we are "running on empty"

Often it's only adrenaline that keeps us going.

Then we stop, noradrenaline kicks in to rebalance the body and that's when the tiredness really hits.

It will take a few weeks but with a bit of TLC you will recover.
