"They" (either Payplan/creditors cannot "see" anything. They don't know how much you sold your property for, they don't know if you had other debts which you have paid off, or have even blown it on a trip to Vegas (Las Vegas I mean, not Johnny)! In my opinion you are making this too personal (which I know it is to you of course) but "they" don't care two hoots about you so why should you worry about whether they are impressed or not? I did say I tended to be a straight talker, and although I admire the fact that you have tried to pay your debts off without complaint previously, I would say that now is the time for a bit of selfishness and trying to negotiate a reduction rather than worrying about the opinions of people/companies who you will never have to deal with again. Tell "them" as little as possible - you don't have to fill the silences (one of the best pieces of advice I was ever given).

Good luck, AC. Tell the truth but say as little as possible, as has been said by more knowledgeable people than I. If you do not tell a lie, you cannot be caught out in it.

You will be fine if you are just calm and focussed. Will be thinking of you.

I'm just wondering if I'll be asked questions such as' how much did you sell your property for ?' ' how much money do you have left ?'
'You have enough money to pay your creditors ' etc .
I will try to deflect questions obviously ,while telling the truth.

I think there's some natural migration. We live in Surrey and if we want a weekend away we tend to go south west. That means we don't have to deal with the M25, M40 or M1. The A30/A303 have their problems but we can envisage the beach at the end!!!!! Comfort Zone - totally.


My hubs has decided (at 60) he's had enough and we are house hunting on the south coast all the way down to Cornwall. We have some commitments so it won't be this year but soon after.


AC, make your money work for you rather than the other way around. I wish you all the best.

Just wrote down what I will tell payplan this afternoon:
1) moved to cheaper area ..now unemployed ,as no proper support from employers .Had to pay off debts to family members . Funeral costs etc
2) made offer to creditors because I am anxious and want to make a fair offer due to my circumstances
3) pointless doing means testing as I am unemployed and am looking for a place to live .unsettled etc

Hope that sounds ok .
Other news:gym ..have tracksuit top.. but bottoms are in storage!
Have to go to Poole to get some . Will be going to gym

Sounds good AC - just try not to keep adding to it. If they ask you something you're not sure how to answer there is no shame in saying you don't know, or you need to check things and get back to them.
Good luck with the gym as well - the first time I went my legs turned to jelly and I didn't think I would make it back to the car. Probably ought to start doing something (although gym would probably kill me now). I think I said before, I have a lot of weight I could do with losing but even half of it would obviously benefit me. Doctor didn't say a word though about weight when I had my medication review yesterday. Have looked into the council run "walks" they do nearby and may try that after New Year to make a gentle start to activity.

Just got back from the gym. Checked email ,and meeting for today has been cancelled . I feel strange about that in one way ,as I was anticipating a frank and honest discussion . Has to be said , payplan have been brilliant for me so far . This cancellation gives me a chance to see what the creditors say when I receive their responses by post .
Hopefully ,I will be able to call payplan in a few weeks and tell them all debts are cleared( with a reduction of course )
