AVIVA the pits

Following on from another thread claiming Equitable Life being the most inept I disagree try Aviva

My OH has been in contact with them 10 months and still waiting .
He requested in January the value of his pension with a view of taking a lump sum .
As he retired several years ago he now would like to take his benefits .

Several months and the forms in triplicate sent back to Aviva a complaint taken up and he was compensated and told that any losses would be addressed when paying his pension .

Just three weeks later a letter today tells him the information ie a box not ticked which is complete bunkum all his paperwork we have scanned to safeguard against this .
We were aghast at such a request but looking closer the last page they enclosed was a declaration to sign ... another person's name and policy number !!

You can not make it up .

Luckily my pension was a doddle and dealt with efficiently by a decent pension provider .

For all anybody knows he he could be enjoying the fruits of your husband's pension..

On a serious note, this does appear to be very poor administration and I would be inclined to make another formal, written complaint and be prepared to escalate it if necessary.

    Hi Maggy50

I'm sorry to see what has happened and would like to look into it for you and your partner. Would you be able to ask them to email me details of what has happened to social@aviva.co.uk and include for security purposes their

    Full name
    Date of birth
    Post code
    Policy number

If you can also include your MSE username in the email so I can link the email to your post I'd really appreciate it. Once I have your partners details I can then work with our team to try to understand what has happened and get you an update on your partners policy as well.

I look forward to hearing from you

I personally think your a toothless department of aviva.I have emailed you many times over a period of 12 months +(its no use asking me to get back in touch so you can help,i have done that at least 5 times).Yes you acknowledge emails etc but you never actually get anything done about the complaints.I think your just a smokescreen for aviva to make it look like aviva care. They don't.

Maggy - so that's where my husbands paperwork went!!! We didn't get yours though sorry. He has two pensions maturing and they only sent him the figures and paperwork for one. When he phoned last week he was told that it would take until 3rd November to calculate the final bonus on the second policy if he was prepared to receive it by email. However, if he wants the forms sent by post it will take until the 10th November to work out the final bonus!!!!! Go figure.

Sorry to hear your traumatic experience of Aviva Ganador
I am contemplating sending the paperwork to the gentleman's workplace who initiated his pension I am sure he is oblivious , mind you I would like his pension than my OH.
We just want an end to our dealings with Aviva I would not recommend them to anyone not even for pet insurance cover !!

We sent yet another complaint today signed for and tomorrow I am sitting down and invoicing Aviva for every form , copy , scan and postage charge over this last year they paid a paltry £50 earlier this month so will not be settling for anywhere as low as that !!

    Good luck x

Context is needed. They are the largest UK insurer and have millions of customers. So, large number of complaints would be expected.

Nationwide is much smaller but got 4227 in the first 6 months of this year. Aviva got 877 in the same period. L&G 661. Allianz insurance 1279. In context, they are not doing too badly.

If you look at the complaint outcomes, then they are running at 24% for life and pensions. Below the average by some way.
