All I can say is I should have been daft!
I was out today and have just got in to find a letter waiting.

The Employer Error Unit have reviewed my record and on this occasion they will not be collecting the remaining underpayment of £3371.90 from me.
They have apologised for the problems I have had resolving the issue, and also for the worry and distress it has caused me. They are sending me a cheque for £50

I am sitting here in tears, and actually shaking. I hadn't realised how much the whole business had upset me. I mean, I was upset, back in November, but I had resigned myself to another slog to pay it off. The relief is tremendous.

Something went wrong here despite your efforts with HMRC to resolve it so I'm really glad that's been accepted and resolved.
