General idea of the letter is fine although perhaps start it as Dear Sir/Madam.
Don't send the actual P2s - send copies so you still have your own.
If you know the dates you contacted them to discuss tax codes, underpayments etc, include them.0 -
write 'COMPLAINT' in red on the top of your letter.0

I didn't know exact dates so sent as it was.
I added in some bits about them having all the information and me being sure it was all under control.
And emphasised how upset I am.
I've sent it, with a big red complaint written at the top in case it wasnt clear.
The trouble is, I still need to sort something out about payment, and I can't get through to the !!!!!!s.
I've spent a few unsuccessful evenings on hold (once for 45 mins), only to have the call get disconnected. I cant phone them in the morning as I am normally on the way to work when the lines open.
How in the world does anything get done there?
I didn't find it this hard to talk to an actual person in the past, have they made so many mistakes that the whole country is trying to get through?
I don't want to get into trouble for non payment. I am freaking out a little...Light Bulb Moment: Feb 2007

Your complaint letter should be enough. Wait and see what happens first.0 -
No, I haven't been able to make it to the post office as work has been manic. I just stuck 4 first class stamps on it and stuck it in a post box.Did you get a receipt of posting or send it Recorded Delivery?

Do you think it will disappear?

All post now is scanned upon receipt. Phone HMRC and see if your post has been received by asking them to check the digital mail system.
It will give you some piece of mind[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I received a letter today.
Thank you for your letter of 2nd November 2015. I am sorry for the delay in replying to you.
I have looked at your record and have found that there may be an issue with the underpayment for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014.
I have sent your case to our employers error unit for them to review.
I will contact you further when I know the outcome of the review.
I am sorry that this is not the outcome you hoped for but if you have new information or any questions about my response please phone or write to me. My contact details are at the top of this letter.
I suppose deep down I was hoping that they would say, we are very sorry, and here's some compensation. But I'm not completely daft!:rotfl:
Whats likely to happen now? Do you think its actually worse? Could I owe more? (It's that ominous I'm sorry this is not the outcome you hoped for part)
I suppose at least I have a bit of breathing space, and with Christmas coming up and public sector staff shortages I might be able to wangle delaying payment until I have finished my DMP. Fingers crossed anyway.Light Bulb Moment: Feb 2007

A relevant bit in that letter is
I have sent your case to our employers error unit for them to review.
So they are checking the information supplied by your employer.0 -

It looks like there may be an issue and are looking at it further.
Seems good enough so far to me.0
