This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Judi, glad to hear you are on the mend, Hilstep, good news from you too.
We are visiting hospital again today, MIL has taken a turn for the worse, hubby want's to see his Mum, BIL is waving his Power of Attorney around trying to exclude all visitors except himself & blocking all updates on her condition. MIL is still lucid so we are arguing against POA being invoked, Hospital have asked to see copy of POA, youngest BIL has his solicitor involved. Both BIL's are waving wills around!
A house came on the market yesterday morning in the village where DD lives, she got a decision in principal within 30 minutes, she put her house on the market at the same time & has 5 viewings booked for today & tomorrow, now she is faced with trying to keep the house tidy over half term with 5 kids including the 18 month old twins!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning all, Hester, those BILs of yours sound so dreadful.
I am up and about to eat some toast and get in the shower but I have a really sharp headache, earache and feel hot, though it is quite cold. I must work, no choice as people have appointments booked and they are taking time out of work. I have some flu remedy stuff in my drawer at work.
Washing machine full of clean stuff, will let OH deal with that. Must look at weather report as too dark to tell hiw the day will be.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning :hello:
Hester I don't envy you, your BIL is a nasty piece of work.
I hope the visit goes well xx
ancientofdays I hope you feel better soon xx
Mr tru filmed Scampi last night, it was dark and all you can see is the flashing light on his collar while he's bounding around with his flashing ball, looks like a couple of alien things coming towards you
Everything's clean and tidy except the carpets upstairs, I'll wait til man and dog go out for a walk tonight. Vacuuming is so much easier when there's no dog bounding around, trying to catch the hooverThough it's better than before - a terrified dog, attacking the hoover then running and hiding, and going into a barking frenzy if you dare to touch it even when it's not turned on, lol.
I've been OSing for a long time so it's mostly habit, but I sometimes find myself carrying on without thinking about it. Then I realise I've let something slide so I put myself right again. I'm on a bit of a money mission, I want some serious savings in the bank. I'm going to pay a bit more attention to everything I do over the next couple of weeks to make sure I'm not cutting corners and being a bit lazy with things. This afternoon I'll go over everything financial, then jiggle the spreadsheet around to make sure everything's in it's proper place. My pen, paper and calculator are standing by

Morning everyone.
Thanks for the thread HH.
Still pitch black out here and very mild. Yesterday turned into a lovely sunny day though today is destined to be rubbish.
Today I start another six week teaching job, only two hours a week so I'm really looking forward to it. It's over in Tarbert so not too far away.
Think a vacuum needs pushed around downstairs and that will be enough. I'll do a tip run as there's a load of cardboard cluttering up the utility room which is annoying me. Got the new portable phones to set up, they'll be fully charged by now.
As for food...I took mince out of the freezer last night so will conjour up something with it later.
Congrats to Hilstep, such great news.
I hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Good morning all. We had torrential rain through the night but we are having a reprieve for now. Forecast to return!
We have a busy busy day ahead of us. The start of closing down the caravan for the winter. It's a nightmare task! DD came home yesterday and when they left she fit as much of her stuff in the car as she could (bedding, clothes, food etc and also mucky washing!) As soon as we get there we will load up our car with the fridge freezer, our bedding, towels, store cupboard stuff etc and then we can start transferring all the stuff from the awning into the caravan (dismantled chairs, table, bikes, toys, tv & stand, etc etc!) It's packed to capacity when we've finished! Then when DS can help us we will go back over to take the awning down and cover up the van. I'll be glad when today is over! The worst part is we haven't made use of it this season at all. Most of the summer Mr TA wasn't fit to go and enjoy it. Hopefully, on the new therapy, next year will be different. We can but hope.
We want to set off as soon as poss so I just need to pack up some lunch to take with us. Plus have something quick and easy ready to warm up for when we get back. I have some tubs of Bolognese in the freezer so may leave those defrosting. Nothing easier than throwing some pasta in a pan!
Have a good day all (((((HUGS)))))) if wanted/needed. Especially HESTER - I don't know how you can keep your cool with those BIL's they sound absolute nightmares. Did you get BIL4 on your side in the end? I so hope MIL isn't aware of all this going on.
Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Still dark here. I hate Winter:mad:
DDis popping in this morning after her night shift. They are doing up their tiny sitting room for DGD, so she can have a bedroom of her own. Their house is a two up, two down, but they can't afford to move.
Lunch out for me today, for a catch up with a friend. :Ty
OH due back later, very stressed out at the moment, work!
If you didn't read my post yesterday, my consultant thinks my meds need sorting, no new tumours, so that's good!
Have a great day all!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good morning all,
Hester I really don't know how you cope with your BILs. They should be ashamed of themselves and their behaviour, and I suppose it will only get worse once MIL has gone. As TA says I hope MIL isn't aware of anything going on.
Hillstep, wonderful news, and such a relief, enjoy your lunch out and allow yourself a small celebration.
Himself has to go for a medicaton review today, and you wouldn't believe the fuss he makes. I don 't know why, the nurse is lovely, he has been on this medication since his heart attack which is about 7 years, and actually all she does is tick the boxes, having asked the questions. He will have a BP check and it will all be over in 5 minutes - MEN
Whilst we are at the surgery I will make an appointment for my flu jab.
I am not sure what the weather is like, I haven't opened the blinds yet, but if it looks as though it will be fine I will get some washing on.
TA take things steady today, both of you are not well so pace yourself and hopefully next year you will have a lot more use of the caravan
Have a good day all

Morning All
HH - Your BILs are the pits, I hope MIL stays comfortable. Good news re your DDs house, hope it all goes smoothly.
TA - Be kind to yourself, that sounds like a lot of work.
tru - saw a very distressing programme last night about the RSPCA and a puppy farm, don't know if you saw it. Later in the programme was a family who adopted a puppy and they had a lead with 2 handles, one appeared to be on a collar and the other on a harness, wondered if this would help Scampi and his pulling? Sorry, can't for the life of me remember what they called it!
Wet and miserable here but not cold, PL made - still on the salad, I may have to move to soup when it gets cold but I enjoy a salad at lunch time.
Decided to organise myself a bit more, I have a page a day diary that I was given, I'm writing a list of jobs to do each day as it seems to help my motivation if I can cross something off the list!
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
candlelight he possibly has 'white coat syndrome ' or just he's a bloke

H/H I don't envy you your BIL's they sound disgusting.

I drive us to the outskirts at Blackheath then we train and tube from there, so we will be off around 8.00a.m. I'm hoping the weather dries up a bit by lunchtime at least
Middle of the week already its just flying by at the moment
Hope everyone is enjoying the half term with the children despite the weather, although Monday and tuesday were OK
