Lucy has passed away

My beloved 13 year old dog Lucy was PTS yesterday. Her vet had advised back in March this year that it was time to consider letting her go but we tried very hard to keep her comfort levels such that she had some quality of life.
By yesterday though, it was painfully obvious that the struggle was becoming too much for her. She still had a good appetite and played with her toys, but needed a huge effort just to stand up. Even eating her food meant standing longer than she could cope with so she ate her food lying down. She had been making groaning noises the last few days and I realised she'd had enough.
She went quickly and peacefully. I feel like my heart has been ripped out and I will miss her forever.
I have a younger dog aged 7 who is lost without his big sister. He's going upstairs to look for her and sitting staring at me, whimpering. I wish I knew how to help him. I'm absolutely gutted.

I am so very sorry about your dearest Lucy. Just wanted to say - it's so very hard when you know the 'time' has come to help them slip away from their tired, furry body. My sympathy goes out to you at this painful time.0

So sorry to hear about Lucy. It's over 3 years ago that my last dog had to be pts but I can remember it as though it were yesterday and how devastated I was.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
