You can still go that way.wallofbeans wrote: »But somebody might like the tour of London!
There is no fare defined for that.wallofbeans wrote: »Is it not possible to prove you've avoided zone 1 by swiping somewhere along the route?0 -
Yes, that's right.wallofbeans wrote: »Getting from Clapham North to Stratford without going through zone 1 on the tube.
There are many journeys for which it is possible to avoid Zone 1.wallofbeans wrote: »Or to be honest going anywhere south to north without going through zone 1.
A high proportion of those will involve the use of National Rail services (including London Overground), but not all. Not that it matters, surely?0 -
People need to be more careful now as the 'benefit of the doubt' thing has recently changed in the favour of the company for many journeys. People must hit a pink reader if travelling round rather than going through zone 1, if ever they see one. It's more important now than it used to be.Not if the default fare gives you the benefit of the doubt and assumes you avoid Zone 1.0 -
If you're going from Wandsworth Road to Stratford I'd forget any idea of going via Shoreditch High St and Liverpool Street. It'll be two fares, and more expensive.
The system expects you to go via Canada Water.0 -

I was never thinking of doing that. It was either Liverpool Street or Stratford. There was talk of going to Shoreditch High Street and then walking to Liverpool Street. But other than that they were separate journeys.
Thanks anyway!0 -
This is concerning. Do you have any examples?People need to be more careful now as the 'benefit of the doubt' thing has recently changed in the favour of the company for many journeys.
You must touch a pink reader to avoid the Zone 1 charge if there is a fare defined for avoiding Zone 1 which requires you to do so to avoid being charged the Zone 1 fare. In the OP's case there isn't such a requirement.People must hit a pink reader if travelling round rather than going through zone 1, if ever they see one. If you had Z2-3+ travelcard you could do so by breaking the journey at say Stratford ,and then going from Stratford-Dalston Junction.0
