I've been told to use Vaseline after hip op....cheap as chips!:j0

I've used it, once the scar was fully healed. I think it had some affect but I have no point of reference having never had a similar scar and not used it.
Its certainly an interesting oil, and feels unlike anything else I use like aveeno and other simple moisturisers.0 -
Advised today at hospital that bio oil is very good at reducing the scar tissue appearance, Vaseline would be good have some of that already:T0

theres a very sinilar oil called re-gen oil which is very similar but a lot cheaper (or it used to be cheaper anyways )0

I tried the re-gen oil but found it wanting. Bio oil is the best. It has a variety of uses but it excels at scar tissue.
I had skin cancer on my face, a basal cell carcinoma which had to be removed by surgery. My surgeon said it wasnt suitable for lasers, it would have to be the knife. He recommended bio oil.
I have the faintest of scars, completely flat, no puckering or angry redness. You can hardly see it, most people Dont spot it unless I point it out.
If it's for scar tissue in a visible place then don't mess about for the sake of a few £s, go for the bio oil.0 -

Sounds good and you are right about the cost if it does the job, also it was the hospital doc who told me to try it.:T0 -

There is a cheaper one you can get from discount shops which looks the same and is in a similar bottle.
I got some once for my stretch marks but I didn't like the feel of it (too greasy) and it had an odd smell so chucked it. No idea if it is the same looks the same just a lot cheaperRead my diaryHere0 -
I was about to ask about bio oil!
I have a fresh surgical scar on my neck, stitches removed Monday and appears to be healing well, no bleeding or infection. Do I need to leave it a bit longer or could I start using bio oil now?0 -
did you look at silicon based cream- Dermatix. for extensive scars it is very good. (very expensive- but works. sometimes value is more important). also consider good diet as it impacts on wound healing.0
