Surprise bank balance....

I checked my bank balance online this morning and was very surprised at how much was in there - there was an unexpected payment of £1559.57 dated today saying PIP!
I went for a PIP assessment 3 weeks ago and was told it would take between 4-8 weeks for a decision to be made and I would receive a letter telling me the outcome. I've heard nothing at all from them until today when I saw the payment on my bank balance. I called the helpline but all they could tell me was a favourable decision had been made and it looked as though back payment had been made. No details on what levels for either component.
Has anybody else experienced this with their PIP claim? How long do you think it will be before I receive any paperwork?

Looks like they made a decision last Wednesday, So you should get an award letter this week that explains why you got what you got, It gives you all the points and descriptors, It also tells you how long you need to wait for a review...
Don't spend it all at once

Can you work out how much you are getting if you know the date to which it was back dated?

I'm pretty sure I first applied for it sometime in August. I'm not sure what the amounts are for the different levels, can somebody tell me if they can work out from the amount paid please?
I have been told I will get my next payment on 18th Nov0 -

It looks like you've got the higher rate of both components if you applied in August. I work out the amount you've received as being about 11 or 12 weeks of the highest (enhanced) rates (which would take the claim back to early August) while for the standard rates for both it would be 20 weeks which can't be right.
When you do get to find out what you've been awarded please post the outcome here as I'm curious to know if I'm right!0 -
UPDATE.
I've received the paperwork now and it seems I applied mid July (doesn't time fly?)
I have been granted standard rate for daily living and advanced rate for mobility.
I am also on ESA support group and have received a form now from DWP to fill in to claim for severe disability allowance?? I've not heard of this before0 -

Ah, if you live alone with no dependants and no one gets carers allowance for you, It's an extra 61.85 per week on top of your ESA.
So would be like £373 every 2 weeks for ESA...0 -
As you know its for PIP and not a mysterious amount that could have come from anything, and could be paid back.., why not just enjoy it? Meant nicely x x
Same thing happened for me with DLA when I claimed for my younger son.., expected it to take months, it took two weeks and was a lovely surprise, came just as I needed it too.0 -

I was very surprised that my claim was approved as I felt the assessment went very badly, and yes I was expecting it to take months to be sorted too.
Trouble is I will have trouble spending it as I am practically housebound, can't get out and about without help and suffer from anxiety and depression as well as my physical problems.
I am thinking of maybe seeing if I could get a cleaner to come once a week and do the major things so my daughter doesn't have to do everything0
