How good are Googledocs spreadsheets for basic accounting

I have an old compute with Excel 2002 installed which I am very familiar with, meaning I can do most things I ever have to on any spreadsheet.
I have been asked to help somebody do some basic accounting, nothing fancy just the usual sales / expenditure details.
I was wondering how good the spreadsheets are on Googledocs. I have never used them before but had a quick look online last night to get a few facts and figures.
There is a limit of 15GB memory, but how big is this. Say I had a spreadsheet of 15 columns, with 10 lines of data for every day .. how big would the file be at the end of the year.
I wouldn't have a problem with my Excel 2002, but I'll be getting a new computer soon, which would mean using the updated version of Excel. I would have to buy that too and that'll not be cheap no doubt.
Would I be just better off using Googledocs
thank you

Either Google Docs or OO as Sooler explained.
In terms of what size the file will be, I currently have 577 spreadsheets on my PC, with an average size of ~150Kb.
Average workbook has 5 tabs, each with 15 columns and about 350 lines of data. Total size for all 577 books is about 90Mb.
You'd be a long time hitting the 15Gb Google limit. By my reckoning, each of your 1 year worksheets would be around 180Kb max. You therefore would have room for ~100,000 years worth of data on Google Docs.
Bear in mind also that if this is a package for someone else, it is much easier to set it up on a google account that they can access, rather than a standalone copy on your PC which you will then have to update for them.0
