My wifes laptop has just been rebuilt and now I am ensuring that it is running with all available updates
However - it has only updated Adobe Acrobat and kb2502789 / kb2524840
and has now given up with updates
I have been waiting for a good hour with no further updates appearing
Do MS not offer a single file to download manually to give the latest updates ?

Autopatcher is a tool for off-line patching however there are a few other alternatives of similar ilk such WSUS offline update.
Handy tools to have in the box for quicker patching after a rebuild.

WSUS is a Microsoft product for the IT departments of corporates and the like to distribute updates on their local network, sounds like one of those sites that Fightsback listed above is using it to bundle them.
Microsoft seems to have gone away from the concept of service packs with bundled updates in recent Windows versions, which is a nuisance when a fresh install is needed for whatever reason.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

No, different to a WSUS server even though one of the solutions borrows from the name. Autopatcher used to be a really fantastic in that all the updates and service packs could be downloaded as a single bundled solution, however Microsoft served them with a cease and desist for redistributing MS updates.
Now you have to download autopatcher and it pulls in the patches from MS directly as it's no longer allowed to ship them. Once they are all downloaded then you can create your own rolled up install set.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Hi
The update cycle is spaced out. Every 23 hours or so.
So when I did mine it took a week or so.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
OK I have tried using MS Baseline Security Analyser - which has detected 314 missing updates !!
Trying to figure out how I now install them......0 -

WSUS offline warned me against installing on my own Win 10 laptop - is it safe ?
Or is it better to install it on the Win 7 laptop and download the updates to it directly ?
The 314 detected updates won't download using MSBSA !
They also won't download using WSUS - Telling me that the system is incompatible !!
It is a 64bit Win 7 install - so what is it on about ?
This is starting to annoy me !
Any more suggestions ?0 -
I used wsusoffline in July (first run UpdateGenerator.exe then run client/UpdateInstaller.exe). This was on the latop itself (w7 64bit). Not sure if all the updates came down but certainly worked. All I can suggest :- ensure the original program zip is extracted and ensure running as an admin. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0

OK Trying autopatcher again - I have managed to get 185 updates on to the laptop - but they are all "FAILED" (according to Windows Update)
The problem appears to be that every time that I run WSUS, it downloads them all - but at the next step it freezes on the very first one (at the moment it is at 96% done on KB971033 !!
I have tried again and this time it freezes on IE11 (@99%) - left it for a good 30 mins !!0 -
I give up - installing Win 10 instead !!0
