we really liked ponderosa -until i found this thread i'd never heard anyone with anything bad to say about it either
also tried the TGI fridays on i-drive. s-l-o-w- service, but good food.
also look out for CICIs - a pizza chain/restaurant that does an all you can eat pizza/pasta buffet for around $5 a head.
oh and dunkin donuts for breakfastknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Bahama Breeze and Cattlemans Steakhouse both on International Drive.....be prepared to 'Q' at Bahama Breeze.:j0

Another vote for Crackerbarrel - I never come away without buying something from the shop either. http://direct.where2getit.com/cwc/apps/w2gi.php?client=cracker3&template=locator&radius=10&address=&city=orlando&state=fl&postalcode=&email=&fname=&lname=
Also love Bob Evans - the chickenpot pie is great and the banana bread too. http://www.bobevans.com/
Don't like Olive Garden, have only been to 2 and found neither had any 'atmosphere'.
Not far from Davenport is Manny's Chophouse http://www.mannyschophouse.com/
in Haines City - big hit with the locals and gets really busy at times.
I'd also vote for the restaurants in Celebration - never had a bad meal in any of them. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g34127-Celebration_Florida.html
Also enjoyed House of Blues at Downtown Disney - good atmosphere, especially is there's a band playing. http://www.hob.com/venues/clubvenues/orlando/ Heard mixed reviews about Gospel Brunch though.0 -
We went to Longhorn Steakhouse on the 192, definitely recommend. Lovely!0

I'm afraid I wasn't keen on any of the big chain restaurants, but could recommend ...
Indian - Aashirwad, 5748 I Drive (SE corner of IDrive and Kirkman)
Japanese - Nagoya Sushi, Dr Phillips Marketplace0 -
Thanks to everybody for their comments, I think we will give the Ponderosa a miss, the last time we were in Florida it reminded us of school dinners. Cracker Barrel and Bob Evan's sound good for breakfast, sounds like good reports on the Olive Garden so will probably give this a try along with the Kobe Steak house. Only five more days to go before we are off, can't wait, I will have to post my comments when we come back.0

Red Lobster is not bad.
There is a new(ish) place on I-Drive at the Pointe Orlando.
Maggianos. New York style Italian. Quite nice. Right next to wonderworks.
Hard Rock Cafe can be nice if you get one of the rooms off the main dinning area.
TGIF at Crossroads (near downtown Disney) was good, and has been said earlier a lot cheaper than here
As an aside the owner of The Mercado is hoping to knock it down next month to build new shops. He had a tiff with the owner of the Titanic exhibition the other week and threw him out. So no Titanic exhibition for now - just in case you were thinking of going. We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Millers Ale House on Kirkman Road - used to bo Orlando Ale House- lots of locals use here - food is really good and very reasonable they have TV screens all around showing different sporting events - daily specials and special offers on beers and lagers0

dont know if the offer is still running, but when we went in '05 there was on offer on at universal studios citywalk where for around $20 you could see a movie and then have a meal (from a set menu) at hard rock cafe. portions were a decent size, and it was a good night out for the moneyknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
