Morning to everyone, get well wishes for poorly folk and strength to those that need it.

Foggy and damp walk with the dogs this morning, funny how the fog deadens the normal noise, oddly quiet out there. Unfortunately my big girls bladder hasn't adjusted to the hour change yet so am being woken up at 5 for a comfort break, managed to get back to sleep this morning until the alarm went off at 6.
Not much planned today, whole house needs a Hoover through and have the weekends washing to iron but other than that the day is mine, the sun is meant to come out this afternoon so will take the boy out for a hack across the fens, clear my head as feeling a bit blurgh today. Think a nice comforting tea might be in order, it's a veggie day so am thinking goats cheese and spinach plait.

Anyways, time to crack on, hope everyone has a good day x

ANCIENTOFDAYS Mr TA religiously did the bowel cancer screening test but, sadly, it didn't register his bowel cancer. 'Something' was spotted on a one-off unconnected routine AAA scan he was offered at 64. Further scans revealed what it was - an inoperable neuroendocrine tumour. This was two and half years ago and, various injections later, he is now awaiting radionuclide therapy for it. He keeps reasonably well and we hope the new treatment keeps him that way. In his case we are just thankful he was offered the AAA scan as not all health authorities do apparently.

  • TA that is horrible for you both. I am sorry and hope my post has not caused you more anguish than you are already experiencing
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Not at all AOD. But I would stress that if any of your DH's are offered the one-off AAA scan in their 65th year then suggest they have it! Although no aneurysm spotted on Mr TA's scan, an eagle eyed scan reader did spot a faint "something" they thought warranted investigating. If he hadn't gone for this scan he wouldn't have been aware what was going on as he was having no symptoms.

  • Good Morning everyone, nice day here so far with sunshine but it's starting to cloud over. I'm off to the station in the not too distant future and will be incommunicado until Friday as I'm off to look after Pushycat and DD has taken her laptop with her to Berlin!!! Look after yourselves and I'll catch up on Friday, Lyn xxx.

Good Morning chums,I was up with the larks this morning and got to the local shops and got my shopping that I needed .Only the second shop this month so I am pleased with that it was mainly fresh fruit and veg and a few odds and ends that I had run out of but it only came to just under £23 so I still have cash left in my food budget purse and its only4 more days until the end of the month :):):) whats left will go into the holiday fund for next year and I start my new food purse budget next Sunday. Its been quite a revelation 'shopping' from my cupboards and freezer this month it makes you realise how much stuff is actually stored in the kitchen. So next month I will repeat the excercise and again go for using up more stuff in stock before going to buy new stuff.
Weather is dry at the moment but I think rain is forecast later.Just pottering around sorting out the kitchen cupboards this morning then after lunch I will probably take the DGS to the local country park if its dry enough
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

P.S. just had to add we had a great day at Dover Castle yesterday the sun shone and it was lovely and mild. One of my DGS wanted a toffee apple from the cafe there so I popped in to see them and on the counter was the most ridiculous priced thing I have ever seen. Two slices of bread with the crusts cut off spread with a scrape of butter and some jam .Basically a jam sandwich the price was £1.00 I worked out that if a loaf of bread had say 26 slices that would be a £13.00 sliced loaf, wasn't even 'posh artisan' bread it looked like ordinary sliced Kingsmill No matter how rich I was I would never pay a pound for a jam sandwich !!!!I would say that the size of it would probably cover the palm of an adult hand !!! The price of the food was extortionate I was glad we had brought our own picnic .One of the boys said Granny we could set up in competition I could auction my corned beef salad roll, I should get at least a fiver for it :):):):)

I managed to drag the rubbish bins out for collection this morning and opened post which was an advert fort the H**T*r's sale and they are doing three for the price of two in case it helps anyone.

I made myself a bacon and tomato omelette and a cup of coffee and am browsing on here till I need to dash off to hand deliver legal form and get on bus to York to meet DD. Might see if we can get into the Bond film this afternoon unless it is just too packed.

I get weighed on Wednesday evening and am trying to be extra good as staying the same or only losing half a pound is annoying me. I just hope DD loses weight this week as she is getting quite fed up with it.

No idea what to cook tonight maybe low cal sausages and beans or a pasta.

    Hugs to all

Good morning everyone, I've been busy since coming back from holiday. We all had a great time and have some happy memories on the mobile photo which we were watsapped to DD so she could see her little man enjoying his time with us. I said she could coming to the beach but we could bring the beach to her whilst she was at work.
It's a foggy day here and a bit damp, thankfully so far it's not the severe rain which was forecast. I was up at 6.30 not chance of a lay in yet I'm still in work mode, not quiet sure if I'll ever get this time out of my system after so many years of working.
It's DD day off and she's booked for little man to have his flu squirt, for little ones in our area they get a spray up their nostrils.
I did a batch of corned beef hash last night, in Yorkshire it's like a stew not the mash potato version. This morning I'd got a large pan on chilli on the go. DD gave us her fridge freezer so we don't have to go out to the garage where the chest freezer is as much. So that's given me more fridge and freezer space, she's now got one of those extra large American type ones.
We went shopping yesterday to get food and I was able to get some YS items in both MrM's and MrS's. I do a monthly shop and then just top up with milk and fruit and veg as and when.
It was DD birthday on Sunday she was 31 and we are going out for a meal tomorrow with some people from her new surgery, I knew one of the girls as I worked with her for a couple of years 8 years ago.
Love and hugs to everyone, hope you all have a nice day.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

    Morning all,

Still got hubby off work though he's much better. We both slept soundly last night. We have both been napping during the day too which i'm sure has aided our recovery. We havent spent so much time in bed since our courting days (but no 'Hestering' was involved, just sleep). Our children having grown up has definitely got its benefits.:D

'Youngest' completed his first night on his own in a field in the 'Wigwam' without too much hardship he says.

House is covered in a layer of dog hairs but it will have to wait.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

  • Good afternoon everyone.

Hugs to all and get well wishes to all.

I am on the train heading to somerset to see my mum. I am looking forward to it but she can be quite outspoken so will just have to ignore it.

I'm a bit sad at leaving DH and children but am sure they will cope. I have left them a vegetable lasagne for tonight and tomorrow.

Nice and sunny at the moment have a good day everyone. x
