O/S Daily Thread Monday 26th October 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Up at silly o'clock again, so much going on at the moment.
I will go back to bed in a while, but no point just yet as my neighbour in getting ready for work & sounds like he's dragging a bag of bricks up and down the stairs.
I will attempt some housework today, interspersed with many phone calls no doubt.
Hubby is working 10 until 6 I think though this is subject to change at short notice it the other caretaker has problems.
Last week he couldn't remember how to set the alarms so hubby had to keep going up and setting them for him. He has some sort of memory problems so hubby wrote him out a set of instructions for various jobs, unfortunately he can't remember where he's put them.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all, today is my day off as it is formally known, or working at home for the sake of accuracy. No travelling is the major plus here, and far fewer interruptions. It feels a bit cold, woolly socks to the ready.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and now gone to work. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, it’s half term here, so will wake him just before I leave for work.
Now getting light, dry underfoot, but foggy here this morning.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with crème fraiche sauce, all eaten and enjoyed, desserts from the tins for those that wanted some. Tonight we’re having gammon steaks, egg, pots, peas and onion sauce.
Work yesterday was a weird one, I was steady doing the job that I was doing, but the others were steady but then had spells where it was horrific but a few minutes later it was dead – so have no idea what today will bring! I’m working at my usual office today and not having to travel to the other one. I need to pick up a loaf of bread other going to work or on the way home.
Keep safe and well x

The net curtain's up, I used four times the width of the window to make sure so-one can see inThe sticky pads on the hooks seem quite strong, I'm not sure how long they'll hold though.
A couple of days of not getting in and out of the car and my hip is almost back to normal. I can't believe simple things like that can set it off. I'm itching to take Scampi for a walk but a bit wary of a sudden yank making me worse again. He gets plenty of exercise during the day but still needs to get out and about in the mornings I think, especially as his evening walk is now in the dark.
The shopping's coming this morning, I'll sort and tidy the cupboards as I'm putting it away.
One corner of the kitchen has become a dumping ground for small things, the others must think 'where does this go...... I'll put it there for now'. It started on top of the microwave and has spread to the shelves. I'll put the lot in a basket, clean the surfaces then start sorting the bit and pieces.
I'll just pottering about this afternoon, and making notes of those little jobs I want doing but never seem to get around to.

Morning everyone.
Yesterday was a flurry of telephone calls and visitors popping in fir half an hour or so, my worst kind if day. The delivery due on Saturday still didn't appear so I was really annoyed. Upshot of my annoyedness is a partial refund from Tosco and a timed delivery slot from the local courier. We'll see!
On a good note I managed all my work with my online students which was very pleasing indeed. Today I have to prep stuff for my new two hour teaching session which starts tomorrow. I have no idea how many are going to turn up so I'll do an outline plan and 'colour it in' afterwards.
All the leftovers got used up yesterday so I'll need to do some scouring Round in the freezer as I won't be going out today.
I hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Good morning everyone
I woke up this morning to the sound of rain hitting the window but it seems to have eased off for now. Hubby has just left for work all bundled up against the weather. The girls are still asleep for now but I will get them up in an hour or so as they want to go shopping this morning.
I will be making a spaghetti bolognese for tea but I will start making it in a minute so it can have a long slow cook as I think it tastes better. We have the rest of the fruit cake DD12 made yesterday as well, it was really lovely and moist, she did a good job.
Max is running round, flinging his toys in the air and generally being noisy. We are trying to train him to put his toys away in a box on command and he is doing really well. He managed it quite a few times yesterday but then immediately took them back out again :rotfl::rotfl:. Never mind, he will get there.
Right, I'm off to get dressed and then make some breakfast as I feel hungry this morning. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning one and all. Yesterday turned out much better than forecast but this morning we have fog. On the plus side, it feels less cold with that shrouding us!
I eventually slept better last night - after dosing myself with painkillers again. This IC is driving me mad just now. There are so many contributing factors I don't know what's kicked it off with a vengeance this time.
Mr TA's medication to collect from the chemist and, whilst in town, I want to call in at Sainsbobs. First day of the 25% off their TU range today and I want to see what I can spot for the little people I have to buy for at Xmas. Ever increasing list of great- nephews and nieces and I think they have some lovely baby/toddler stuff in. Want to get at it before it gets picked through! (If they had something on the sale rack, plus the 25% off, that would be an even better bonus!)
Still quite a bit of Sunday's chicken left to eat up so that will do for lunch with a bit of salad and some fried up baby potatoes. Then I can simmer the carcase and strip off the last bits and freeze for broth. A treat for Mr TA as he prefers a nice broth to a chicken dinner! (Not for me thank you!)
DD, bf and the DGDs have had a nice last few days over at the caravan. They've had some nice bright days and no rain, so the girls have been able to play outside. They went to the ice cream parlour at the next farm yesterday and spotted a celebrity! She WhatsApped me a picture of him last night but I haven't a clue who it is!! She's keeping me in suspense and not replied yet! Watch this space!!
Have a good day all. HESTER what a let down yesterday was for you. Hope Thursday brings an outcome. ((((((HUGS)))))) to all who want/need them and hope the poorlies soon feel better. Take care, especially if you too have this fog. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Dry here at the moment but there was rain overnight. No washing till this evening. PL of salad made and a pot of tea drained - I think these tablets for my stuffy head are making me extra thirsty in the mornings.
Yesterday was quite a good day, I have had a list of things to order for school and was terrified of doing it wrong. Anyway, it took all day but I've done it! I felt so much better after and I was on a roll - went and bought the paint for the hall, stairs and landing, bought lightbulbs, a timer and remote controlled socket switch for DD and made a few phone calls I have been putting off. I went to bed feeling like I had actually achieved something!
Chicken something for tea, I think there are still some carrots in the garden along with some cabbage.
Have a good day all, hope you are all feeling well. Take care. XX0 -
Forgot to say, this is not for the squeamish, completed my bowel cancer screening test this morning. This is the third one. Not something that I enjoy doing but undiagnosed cancer is a far nastier alternative.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
