  • Surprised the seller didn't send a box really.

Yes, it's a totally bizarre story.

Thanks all. When I contacted the seller he gave me the tracking number, so I knew the 'envelope' was from him. I've opened a case, as suggested and the seller has contacted me to say he doesn't know how that happened, but he'll send a replacement and I'll receive it tomorrow - Think I would prefer a refund - But can i insist on a refund?

Seems a weird mistake to make. You could wait until tomorrow and see if you get anything.

If you really want a refund then request that before he sends the item otherwise you'll need to send the controller back for a refund (assuming he does send it).

I would be extremely wary of accepting a replacement and would insist on a refund.
The next package that you receive may well be a controller sized box with half a house brick in it to make sure that it's the correct weight or you might end up with a broken unit.
Even if he has already posted a replacement which you don't want, all you have to do is to refuse to accept it from the postie.

I fail to see how anyone could mistakenly send an envelope stuffed with junk instead of a controller and I think that the seller was simply hoping that you would roll over and accept the loss.
  • Maybe he is hoping that you'll close the case when he offered a replacement, and then hoped you wouldn't know what to do after that.
