Any checking for self promotion and decisions to move should be done by board guide or admins. Its not up to self elected ordinary members to arbitrarily decide which post is self promotion and decide which ones should go on the main board. That's a slippery slope to start down on. I've seen plenty of sarcastic responses to new members trying to post a comp declaring its self promotion when it turns out it isn't. I think best to leave it to the people who are supposed to do it.

That said there does seem to be an influx recently of new members (Hate the word newbies) posting competitions on this board and not sure why as its pretty self evident where the comps board is.
    August-September 2017: Lots of stuff :)

As it's incorrectly titled it only needs to be moved to GO (it's not part of the BG job to edit titles).

It is down to members to check for self-promotion, spam etc and to report them to "admins" to act as required.
  • I don't think the 'admins' actually go looking for them do they?

No they don't - something to do with plausible deniability for what is published - they are reactive not proactive.

Some of the self-promotion accusations are baseless, though. Downright stupid in some instances ...

Nah we get to report spam self promotions whatever.

Newbies - a made up word but has become common parlance; would you prefer new member of the forum? Does challenge my typing skills.

Not that self evident given the number of new posters it fools but then not everybody is as blessed in understanding the rules of posting in a new forum...

What about calling it the " Post here if you want to annoy certain forum members sub board"
Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.
    (Wisdom, Courage, Self-control, Justice)

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change
