Virgin Media speed upgrade - is it free?

Had an email offering me a speed upgrade from 50Mbps to 70Mbps. Went through the online order process. At no point did it mention a cost, but at the same time it didn't say it was free either. The implication was that it was free, but this wasn't specified.

What I do hate about Virgin Media is that you can't see the cost of upgrades before placing an order (unlike Sky, who we used to be with). Our TV is still with Sky and I've tried before to see what adding TV to Virgin would cost, and it doesn't seem to be possible to find out online.

It said they'd confirm within 48 hours whether my order would have a cost. Insane that you can't see the cost and decide beforehand!

Has anyone else taken the speed upgrade offer - it wasn't a change to our package - they said it's new technology increasing the speeds of each package.... Anyone done this and know what it cost?

I placed the order anyway, assuming that if there is a cost and we're not happy with it then we can cancel the upgrade under cooling off T&Cs?

Must pay postage for a new super hub if required.

    Thanks guys. :)

They didn't mention cost, but I was surprised they didn't say "free upgrade" if they were trying to sell it. :D

We only switched to Virgin a year ago so I think our super hub is up-to-date, and wouldn't mind if all we had to pay was postage for a new one.
