While in settings you can also go in Apps , if you click on each app it will give you the option to SD card if it's allowed

Thank you Browntoa. I think you'll be surprised by exactly how little technical knowledge some of us have!

Took me FOREVER to figure out how to shut the new phone up from giving a little 'ping' whenever there was a new email on our yahoo a/c. Didn't realise it had separate 'incoming' settings of it's own for notifications DOH :(:(.

However, even as a technical numpty, I can sort of answer your question Kittie. If you insert an SD card you will have additional memory space than the phone alone has, so if you want (for example) to store a million photo's or a load of documents there will be memory capacity to do so on the SD card. Sounds like you maybe wouldn't need that anyway, me neither.

I had to open a Google account & a Google email in order for it to auto install a range of apps (only some of which I'll use, & not the email a/c at all) but it doesn't cost anything, did not require me to enter PayPal or payment options, even though there is the promise "you won't be charged, just to confirm your country of residence" (or something like that). Any I don't want sitting there can be uninstalled easily enough.

Unfortunately, as fast as I learn/realise how to perform a particular function or action......I forget!!! So then when I have to do it again I have to figure it out from scratch. Embarrassingly, I even had to look up how to answer the phone - how daft is that. Didn't help that it was faulty of course.

I swear I'm going to have a nervous breakdown if I have to replace the faulty Samsung with something totally different.

You can also put music on the sd card from a PC .

Now THAT I didn't realise & will definitely be doing, got quite a lot of favourite music on my PC to copy discs to memory sticks for his car. Husband & I managed that but it was like the blind leading the blind. Clearly can do the same thing onto the SD & shove it in the phone. Jeez, it's really inconvenient being a technical twit.

I forgot to say video as well , you can put films on it

Obviously it's also an easy way of moving pictures to your PC from the phone or for printing photos in boots or tescos

You can also print photos direct from the phones to the machines in boots and other places , the machine normally walks you through the steps . It normally involves turning Bluetooth on for a while ( I turn it off when not in use , same with wifi to save battery life )

Sorry Kittie, highjacking your thread, but perhaps this may also be something for you to consider while figure out how to navigate round your Moto.

Browntoa, so I got another Samsung today & I had a look at some of the apps installed when i got it up & running (by Google & 2 by me). I removed the 'auto update' thing via settings/data usage. Also scrolled down & checked it was removed from all apps listed there. Hopefully that will prevent app updates running in the background, using data time (not free WiFi) & racking up any costs for me, yes??

Whilst poking around there, I see I can 'set data usage'. I only get free data use 150mb each time I top up with £10 & it will be active for 30 days. Personally I really only plan to use free WiFi but I've set the limit there for the 150mb with a warning at 140mb.

Have I been correct in fiddling about like this & should Kittie consider it while familiarising herself with her Moto, or do I just sound like I've swallowed Martin Lewis' blog!

Got a couple of things I'm stuck on & if I can't figure them out I'll brave the Mobile forum. Thanks for the help here though.

Good luck with yours Kittie, it's like trying to learn a foreign language.

That's correct , do updates only when connected to wifi manually , you do want to do updates as they may address critical security problems

I use the data limit option on mine , I would set it at 130 in your case to be sure
