I feel like giving up. I received the tesco sim, uses the o2 network, so I should be able to send/receive texts

I put the sim in and cannot get to register online, which I assume I have to do. My number begins with 078 and everytime I try to put my mobile number in to register online, it has 08 already there. So frustrating, I`ll never get to use the 30 day sub at this rate

I like the wireless stuff but feel like going back to my familiar brick. I will phone tesco mobile later as my username and password are not being recognised

The sim is in but there is nothing on my phone to say anything about any network. All this stuff is ok for the young ones but I am tearing my hair out, no idea what to do

I have cancelled tescomobile and they are refunding me the £12.50. Pleasant and nice on the phone.

I have ordered a free sim from the peoples operator, they have a simple site and a very visible contact number. I have checked coverage and it will be ok again for texts here, best of all they do an uncomplicated payg, much much cheaper overall as I don`t use a mobile hardly at all

I am liking the wireless aspect on the phone, it has a lovely clear screen and is very `easy` to use. It was worth it for the camera alone tbh. I always thought I had to have a sim in order to be able to use it. I cannot believe how much I don`t know about phones

Re pocket sized, too big but ok in my bag. Slippy too, so would easily fall out. I am appreciating my old nokia, small and sturdy and just right for keeping in the car as my emergency phone, just need to get a car charger for it now

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime & trying to figure out how everything works. I think I may need a four year old kid to show me!

I'm ditching EE PAYG as I mostly text & the odd call & I'll mainly use free WiFi Three PAYG is much cheaper, have you considered them & looked at their coverage Kittie?

I'm down to my last £2.50 with EE, then I'll transfer the number to Three.....well, when the free sim arrives & the thing becomes a phone. Got a couple of nice cases from mytrendyphone & Amazon for only a few quid each, so I can choose between book type & flip down type. Covered in bling - don't know what came over me!!!!!

I think 'mobile' has become rather a misnomer for the new phones, most of the poshest ones are the size of a paving slab:idea::idea: PAVS maybe.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
  • I like you have Three pays on a new smart phone and it is enough for my use but I got some great advice on the techie site on how to avoid the updating, which it seems to constantly be doing, from using my pay for data. The phone is set so that I update it on my home Wi Fi so no cost to me. The coverage is a bit hit and miss on Three so I think I will just keep a bit of credit on my old Nokia on EE as that seems to have a bit more coverage sometimes than Three does.

I spent literally hours & hours getting to grips with the workings of the handset, Google apps etc.

Sim arrives & I download better ring & message tones, ditch the roaming thing, sort out how to just see phone contacts & not mixed in with email contacts, all the little things that take me AGES, last but not least.......call 333 to have the message facility removed.

NUFFINK!!!!! No sound in my ear AT ALL. Hubby rings mobile & he can hear me but I can't hear him.

I call Three from landline & a lovely young lady gets the voicemail off, tells me to wait while she calls the mobile to check it doesn't kick in so I mustn't answer it. My mobile starts yelling "AN IDIOT IS TRYING TO CALL YOUR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT", over & over again!

OMG I'm horrified & pray she cannot hear it, serves me right for finding it funny when I downloaded it as a ring tone.

Then she helps me with the 'no incoming sound' & explains how to back-up data before resetting factory settings. We agree I might as well speak to Samsung first. Another pleasant young lady talks my through an odd little hardware test & determines the internal speakers are broken.

Now I've got a refund from Argos, no more stock so no exchange. I've lost 3 days of my life I'm not going to get back but hopefully can get another phone from Carphone Warehouse tomorrow.

    Thoroughly fed up.

PS Think I set the phone for WiFi updates only, there was an article from Martin Lewis warning about behind the scene updates gobbling up your web access & costing money, sorry terminology probably wrong. You can see why I, like Kittie, don't want to venture onto the mobiles forum :huh:

Re the phone being 'slippy', it might be worth having a look on ebay/amazon for a rubbery case. It will protect the phone from scratches and give it a bit more grip.

I have bought a case and it feels more secure. I can`t see me taking this new phone out on a daily basis, holidays (?) yes but the old one will do to keep in my shopping bag. My husbands phone was a 4 year old nokia and I`ll ask the children to restore its settings then put it to one side for a young grandson in the future. My old payg is a sony ericsson 750i and I have ordered a good car charger. I am with o2 for that and will have to look up the password as I hardly use it, just enough to keep the phone number. I have printed the number on a weatherproof label and put it on the phone as I don`t know it. It seems to hold its charge quite well. I have also spent time labelling lots of other wires and connectors

I`ll have no idea what apps to put on this new moto g. It has space for an micro sd card. What would I use that for?

Thou have limited amount of space on the moto g , you can move photos to the sd card and move apps to it . You can also put music on the sd card from a PC . The moto g can take a 32 gig sd card at max

It's rumoured that the next version of android will combine the phones storage with that of the sd card and see it as one storage. In the moto g that would mean the device appears as a 40gb device , 8gb on the phone plus the 32gb sd card

You move photos by going into settings , then storage , then scroll down until you see move media . You then tick the items you want to move
