How much warranty do you think they should be giving you? They don't actually have to give you any warranty at all. (Don't confuse warranty with rights under the Consumer Rights Act).
If it was a back street garage maybe 3 months but a big dealer like EH I thought would offer 6 or even 12 months. The manufacturers warranty would trump any EH warranty so there is no requirement at all to have the EH one.
The manufacturer warranty is probably better anyway.
Yes you're both probably right that the manufacturer's warranty would be better.
My point really was that surely a large dealership like EH would be able to offer a really good warranty. I was wondering what it would be if there was no manufacturer's warranty - surely they wouldn't say none like they have this time.0 -

There would be "a" warranty on the car, dependant on the cars age and miles, probably ranging from 3-12 months.
Trust me on this - you're better having the manufacturers warranty than any dealer warranty.0 -
The way you have worded your post above, I'm assuming that you've not yet actually collected the car in question.I'm pleased with the car and have agreed to buy it but I wonder what you all think about the guarantee. It has a 5 year manufacturer's warranty that still has 2 years left.
Before you do so, I would suggest that you ask to have a look at the service book to ensure that every required service has been carried out at the correct intervals and by a suitable garage and that the mileage limits for the warranty (if there are any) haven't been exceed.
It would also be worth going into a dealership for the car make in question and see if they can confirm that the warranty cover is still in place.0 -
Your consumer rights and the manufacturers warranty are all you need.
Any "warranty" provided by EH will be more likely a breakdown insurance rather than a proper warranty.0 -

That's a good idea.
