Sky MSE sept offer

Just had 2nd bill and it's still incorrect. Spent over an hour trying to sort last bill with the on line adviser who was useless and very rude. Has anyone got a link or details of the offer and does anyone know what the £5 upfront you had to pay was for and is it refundable?
Thanks in advance

The MSE bill was for half price line rental and free BB. Over the course of the year that amounted to £110.35. However you were given a credit of £105 meaning that the deal over 12 months worked out at £5.35. There was no upfront £5 payment.

Each month you will be billed £8.20 - ie £16.40 line rental halved. When the line rental goes up to £17.40 you will be billed £8.70 each month. However talk packages are changing so you'll need to watch what you choose there.

Ok looks correct for Bill 1.

    You were given a £110 credit = £110 CR
You had to pay fro BB as the line rental hadn't started, so £10 = £100 CR
You changed your subscription ( not sure what that was ), so £5 = £95CR
Sky Hub delivery charge of £6.95 = £88.05 CR

Your first bill says - ( ie minus ) £88.05 which agrees with above calculation so there appears to be nothing wrong with Bill 1.

You also had a charge of £20 for a new phone line for which you paid £20 so cancels each other out.

    BILL2: bill total -£81.65

Carried forward from previous bill Credit £88.05
    My subscriptions
    7Nov - 6Dec a month in advance
Sky Broadband - incl discounts FREE
Sky talk line rental - incl discounts £8.20
    Total £8.20 Last month's changes

So you start off £88.05 in credit.

Line rental has now kicked in so £8.20 ( half price line rental as promised ) = £79.85 CR
Due to a change in your subscription and payment date
    7Oct - 6Nov (31days)
Credit for cancellation of Sky broadband unlimited -£10
Sky Broadband Unlimited - incl discounts FREE
Sky talk line rental - incl discounts £8.20
    Total -£1.80

Now they've gone back and recalculated BILL 1 to include your line rental and free BB.

So you get the £10 charge for BB refunded = £89.85 CR
Line rental is charged at £8.20 = £81.65 CR

    ( The -£1.80 comes from £10 minus £8.20 which is - (minus)£1.80 or in other words a credit of £1.80 )
    Total due Nov 7 -£81.65

Which is exactly what BILL 2 says - ie you have a credit of £81.65 on your Sky account.

I can't see any issues with your bill other than to ask you what the £5 was for where it says a change to your subscription.

So basically you started with £110.

You have two lots of line rental at £8.20 each plus a £6.95 delivery charge = £23.35

    £110 minus £23.35 is £86.65.

Minus whatever this extra £5 was for = £81.65 which is what Bill 2 says you have in credit.
I did make an upfront £5 payment the same day as I paid £20 for unbundling.

The £20 installation fee for the phone line is there along with your £20 payment.

The £5 is registered as a charge because of a subscription change - although it says Upfront Payment £5 it's not a credit as that would be -£5.

So what was that upfront payment of £5 for as that's the only thing I can see to query with your two bills? It seems to suggest it's something from the 23rd September which was presumably your order date. EDIT : Figured this out so see next post.

Having now found a link to the MSE deal all seems absolutely correct with your bills.

The £5 was a charge to verify your card and refundable. The deal was for £100 credit. You get the £5 back so total credit £105.

So basically you have a starting point of £105 credit. However your starting point was -£110 credit which was you getting another £5 back as you said you paid £5 as well as £20 for the line installation.

Two months line rental at £8.20pm is £16.40. The delivery charge for the Sky router is £6.95 so total charges so far of £23.35.

£105 ( I'm taking £105 credit as per MSE deal as your other £5 payment cancelled itself out with getting another £5 credit on your bill ) credit minus £23.35 leaves you with a credit of £81.65 which is what Bill 2 says you have in credit.

    Here's the link to the deal;

Thank you. I didn't change my subscription and this wasn't explained by on line person, nor was the line rental charge when I spoke to him about it. Thank you again for your help - I'll blame my chemo brain now!
