Didn't you notice this before you moved in? What did it say on the advert?
I don't care, I just want a reason to leave.
  • I am afraid the replies on here are saying that however much you want to leave, you don't have a legal reason to break your tenancy agreement.

You can find alternative ways to supply broadband to your house. If its not in your contract that bb should be supplied to the property, there is no contract breach. If virgin didn't even 'promise' to supply broadband of a certain speed to your property, its debateable if they are in breach.

And you could investigate if other companies can supply broadband. Virgin doesn't supply my area at all, but BT, plusnet and sky do (through the phone line). I find Plusnet much better than the others, faster and cheaper.

As far as a lack of heating is concerned, you've been told how that can be dealt with.

    OK - I repeat:

    * there is only one way you can use the law to end this contract: if there is a Break Clause. Have you checked?

    * any contract can be ended by mutual agreement. Speak to your LL - he may agree, especially if you make it easy for him. So

    - offer to end the contract only on the day before a replacement tenant is found
    - offer to pay his advertising costs to find a new tenant
    - offer anything else you are willig to offer, if it will motivate him to say 'yes'.
  • You'll need to negotiate your way out of this contract, as per G_Ms ever helpful posts.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
