Anyone with BT Fibre in their area but not available in their street/house

Firstly thanks for reading this post

So, BT Fibre is in the Wilmslow area but for some reason my street (moving in soon) can not get it. Most areas around it can.

I can only check via postcode as don't have a landline yet and it states only 3MB available and when I use Openreach's site to check when Fibre will be available, it tells me "they are looking at solutions"...its not even "we're turning it on soon" or "we're updating your cabinet"

It's as if there's a problem.

I wanted to reach out to others to see if they've seen anything similar.

Ive posted on the BT site and most people say I need a landline before I can get a full check on the speeds/fibre availability. But if Open Reach are saying its not there then i doubt this will help.

Fibre in the area, but your local box has not been upgraded yet or its over subscribed already?
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  • Could well be...all surrounding streets have fibre and to say "looking at solutions" rather than "awaiting cabinat update" worries me.

If it is over sub'd what happens next...do literally wait for someone to move out?

Perhaps your address is served from an E/O DP, these lines don't go via a cabinet, so cannot be served by FTTC, fibre to the cab is difficult if there is no cab, OR are looking at solutions to get around this, but not in every E/O area...there are resources out there that can tell you if your line is E/O or not, perhaps someone will be along and provide a link
  • A link would be appreciated please...need to know before I commit to a provider. I'd be surprised if it was as a) there's surrounding streets as it's very suburbanised and b) the exchange is over a mile away

Last year, an information site (Openreach?) suggested that our address would have fibre mid-2015, gradually moving later.

However, on looking last month, our exchange is now enabled but our post code is no longer given a forecast of date. (It hasn't been enabled as we can see the cabinet from our house).
  • Yeah they intend to have something like 85% connected by spring next year...but if there's issues or complexities they'll move it out to last on the list
  • Our exchange is fibre-enabled, and there's a cabinet about 100 yards from our house, but it's at full capacity.

Additional capacity was supposed to be available in July, then August/September, then an actual date in October, now it's an actual date in November.

I actually want to leave BT but have been waiting for the fibre availabilty, but have now missed the price increase into the bargain, as I pay my line rental upfront. BT are just a shower of total incompetents!
    David.
