Hermes: Parcel Eaten !!

Just wanted to vent.
Hermes have left a parcel on the ground outside my house.
The outer (fairly lightweight) cardboard has been eaten by woodlice in 2 days !! so the parcel is full of woodlice and presumably woodlice faeces.
The retailer is resending my item by Royal mail who generally take parcels back the dry indoor collection office.
It was a face cream and the contents are probably ok, but there could be nasties on the box/bottle etc.

Ewwwww that's gross.
WTH are they doing just dumping it there? I would be furious if that happened to me.
I have heard a lot of complaints like this about Hermes. I think they need to rethink their policies!cooeeeeeeeee :j :wave:0 -
At least they found your house. Better than some deliveries they make!
Playing devils advocate, is there any reason you left the box outside for 2 days?0 -

maybe they did not put a note thru the door saying they had delivered , and it was found when putting the washing out , or moving the dustbin0 -
It's very much a question of who the delivery driver is. When I buy anything online and note that it will be delivered by Hermes I am perfectly happy and if offered a choice I select Hermes. Our local driver is brilliant. She knows all the safe/secret places to leave parcels when we're out, and if she can't leave a parcel safely or with a neighbour she'll leave a note and bring the parcel back the next day. I hope she's not head-hunted by another company!0

I have only once had anything delivered by Hermes, the driver turned up at 8.10am (just before I was leaving for work) and said if he had anymore deliveries in future should he leave them with the neighbours if I wasn't in. I said if he was going to turn up at that time on a morning I would be in anyway. I was the first delivery as he lived round the corner apparently.
After hearing all the bad reports I was shocked at the service I received. Guess I was lucky and we must have a reasonable service here.I worked as a case clerk for the IS for a number of years. Any views expressed are my own. If your query is urgent, please contact the OR or LTADT dealing with your case directly.

My Hermes lady is brilliant. If I'm not in she leaves a card with her mobile number and I just phone her up and arrange a suitable delivery time. It's someone else's fault.0

I can understand them not wanting to keep coming back. Would be quite happy to call and give them details of when I'm, or even for them to put it inside something like a clean bin.0

Had a delivery a couple of days ago for a John Lewis order of 6 chairs. Packed in 6 separate large boxes and delivered by Hermes.
According to the tracking log the boxes were delivered at 12:36pm and signed for by the householder. Not true.
I arrived home at 5h56 pm to the sight of 6 large boxes stacked in 2 columns blocking my front door, and soaking wet on one side.
I had to move them to open the door.
I suppose I am lucky they were still there having been left at the front of the house for 5 hours in full view of anyone passing.0 -
I doubt the woodlice will do you any ill at all. If the item inside is okay, which surely it is if properly sealed, just take it out and use it.0
