Hi All -

I have car breakdown cover - my Policy is with Swinton Insurance - i believe the Policy Cover is called "UK and Home recovery".

I don't know every little detail of what i'm covered for, but essentially i believe if my car wont start on the drive at home or if i breakdown anywhere in the UK , then they will send out a mechanic to attempt to fix the problem or take me to a garage to get it fixed if they are unable do it.

I pay £8 per month for this service - therefore pay £96 a year.
I have had this Policy now for 3 years and have never had to use them.
This means £96 x 3 years = almost £300 over the 3 years without using them.

I would just like to know a few things please -

1. Would people consider ever cancelling this policy or do you think that for just £8 per month its a peace of mind worth keeping in the event i ever do breakdown ( you could no doubt bet the week i did cancel it i would breakdown!)

2. Asides from using my current provider Swinton Insurance - can anyone please recommend a different car breakdown cover supplier such as the AA / RAC - and are there prices per month better than the £8 a month i currently pay.

Any advice would be appreciated.
