I have been with the RAC for a few years now, but this year has seen a jump in the annual fee to £135!!!!!
Considering I haven't had a call out in years this is too high, considering it only covers roadside and recovery rescue.
Does anyone have any ideas about good, competitive cover?

Autoaid - recommended many times on here, I've been a satisfied customer for many years.

Thanks for that Ebe, one thing that concerns me about them though, is that you have to fork out the cash for recovery and then Autoaid refund you some time later. At the moment we certainly could not afford that.

Done to death many times on this forum, a search may help.

I've used autoaid and not had any problems BTW, paid out quickly and fully for my recovery.

"If AutoAid’s pay and claim scheme is not for you, then we recommend you to visit our sister site Autonational Rescue for breakdown cover."

It's not an issue if you have a credit card - pay on the card, send off the claim, the cheque is with you before you need to pay the card bill.

It's not for everyone I know, but nothing else comes close for the price and cover you get.

I've always found greenflag to be great. Every year its gone down - discount for not calling them out and then this year two discounts for them taking over an hour to get to me (1hr 2 mins one time and 1 hour 6 the next!), so currently paying £46 for 2 cars national recovery cover.

Nationwide cover for £10 per month with bank account, UK & Europe cover as well as travel insurance and mobile phones.

Used them twice in the last year and both were brilliant. One UK and one in France, both handled by Britannia rescue.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Haggle them down, I pay less than that for the top package including caravan/trailer cover.
