Alternative to Hudl2

Was planning to purchase a Hudl2 to replace a Kindle Fire HD but it's no longer available.
What would others recommend as an alternative?
Tight budget, don't want another KF and would prefer Android as the OS.
Looking for web browsing, emails, light games and moderate App use.
Have done some browsing and seen Nexus 7 (always hear good things about Nexus) or possibly Samsung Tab.
Hoping Black Friday may bring a good deal somewhere...

Bad timing, it looks like the official decision to stop selling the Hudl 2 was only announced a couple of days ago.
I had a Hudl 1 but had problems with it and the replacement so I got my money back and bought a Nexus 7 2013. It was good but obviously isn't cutting edge 2 years on, if it ever was. To be honest I rarely use it now, I find the size to be too big to carry everywhere (I use my phone for that) and too small to replace my ultrabook. If I was considering another tablet I think I'd be looking for at least a 9" model, although I have no intention of buying one at the moment.0 -
I'd say max £150, absolute max mind, I probably won't have quite that much by Black Friday when i'm hoping to buy.
If it's sold by Tesco even better as i've £10 in Clubcard vouchers so another £20 after doubling.
The hudl2 has been out of stock for a week or two now online so perhaps not dire timing0 -
A friend has an 8" Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet which they seem happy with. Having handled it, I quite like the design of the little stand thing. Currently £130 from several places. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Here's the Nexus 7 for £100 if you can find it in stock. Still a good tablet and will get the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Thanks so much for the replies, very tempted by the Argos Nexus as I have that much in the pot but going to hold out for Black Friday0

Look out for the Medion tablets sold by Aldi. Bought one last year and it is very good for the money.Never Knowingly Understood.

As above now selling at £120. Get one quick at this price. I've been very disappointed with my hudl 2 since the OS update.0

The Nexus 7 2013 was a pretty good tablet when it came out and will still beat or at least hold its own against £100 budget tablets even now.
It is oos in many Argos locations and I think if you wait until Black Friday they may well all have gone. If you pay as a Fastrack transaction they will move one to your local Argos free. I've just done that as I want one as a Christmas present for my grandson. He had a Hudl 1 and the power connector failed got it fixed free and it failed again but by then well out of any warranty. They have put it up to £109 now but when I bought it I got a £10 promo code off next purchase so if you want anything else from them within the next month then it is in effect £99 still.0 -
I'm holding out for a deal on Black Friday across multiple retailers, not specifically the Nexus 7 or Argos0
