Sky Anytime - international call no longer free

Apart from the line rental being raised to £17.40 a month, Sky have done away with Sky Anytime International Calls. Sky Anytime has been raised to £8 but will include mobile calls instead.
If you want inclusive international calls this has gone up to £12 (from £5) - really not worth it when you consider a 60 minute call will only cost you £1.20 (2p per min), not worth the extra £4 unless you do make lots of call each month. A big change however.

International calls may have been "inclusive" but they were never "free".
The only numbers that are "free" are those starting 080 or 0500 and numbers such as 111, 112/999 and those starting 116.0 -

The old Sky Anytime package that included international calls has not been available to new customers for at least 2 years. Sky Talk with international calls then cost £10 so the increase is really £10 to £12.
Granted anyone on the old Anytime package with international calls got to stay on it although I remember it did not include 0845/0870 numbers. When they introduced the new Anytime package ( still at £5 ) they brought in 0845/0870 and dropped international.
Now of course they're bringing in mobile calls but the biggest difference seems to be not allowing people to stay on the legacy packages this time.0 -
Blimey, I didn't know that. Bang goes my 2 x 1 hour calls to my American friend, will have to talk faster and only speak for an hour! Its a huge rise for anyone that was still on the £5 international inclusive package that's for sure. Now have to pay more for less. I mean, who really needs mobile calls on their landline when most people have enough minutes on their Mobile tariff to cover calls to Mobiles.Sunshine0

Now that landline providers are starting to add inclusive calls to mobile numbers from landlines, it's time to evaluate how many minutes you really need on your mobile.
In many cases, callers may pay an extra £3 per month or so on their landline, but be able to reduce the spend on their mobile phone by a very much larger amount.0
