Yes, i use my charity clothes bags for binbags. We also get a lot posted through the letterbox. Any old clothes etc, i prefer to take direct to one of the local charity shops in the next town.

our local council bin men get a bit sniffy if you use charity bags and tell you that you have to use black bags, I'm sure there must be a reason but I haven't fathomed it out yet

I used to throw them away having a misguided guilt complex, but for the last year I have been using them as bin bags. I turn them inside out, but we have large landfill bills so no problem anyway, as the bins are just attached to the lorry for emptying. I know what you mean Geordie, it never occurred to me to use them at first.

I cant bear to use them as bin bags i somehow feel dishonest. Funny really as i only throw them away which isnt very enviromentally friendly as well as being a waste of money.

Judi, that's exactly how I felt. And I felt like a shop lifter when I first started to use them, but then I thought, it's recycling really, so I am ok with it now...almost... :o

As the bags are unsolicited, think of it as the charity "flytipping" through your letter box. Use them in whatever form suits you, as the alternative is to let them build up behind your letterbox until such time as you can't open your door. Its not like they'll collect the empty bag if you leave it outside your door (believe me I've tried!).

Putting them in the bin opened up and allowing other rubbish to pile on top of them is no different to putting them in the bin on top of the other rubbish inside yet another plastic bag.

I suppose another alternative is to post it back to the charity but that's not very MS.

Those that don't get used to put bits in for the charity to collect get used to line my kitchen bin. I used to throw them away, until I read on this board about using them as bin liners and thought what a good idea!

Send them my way.......I have ZERO guilt about using them :D
Besides I don't have that much stuff to keep passing on so how on earth am I supposed to return the bag?
