cut them into long strips and knit a shopping bag out of them - or weave a plastic doormat. I'm serious - you have a google!

Bin liners. We must get 5 or 6 a week here, and that isn't counting the ones we nearly get til the dogs scare them off the doorstep!
Never get collected if empty so in the bin they go

I turn them inside out and use to donate to a charity of my choice.

I fill them and drop them at the charity shop at the end of the street.. they are very keen to stuff bags through the letterbox but they NEVER call back to collect.. so I fill them and drop them off locally.. at least it is stuff gone!

Ditto! I do exactly the same. Once I have a bag I an urge to fill it with stuff/clutter. Join us over on the declutter thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2948896 - I'm trying to get rid of 40 things this weekend. My stuff goes to a hospice as I lost a dear friend last year. This weekend is apparently free listings weekend too on ebay.

I fill mine with dead leaves and leave them behind the shed to make leaf mould as they're already perforated. I hasten to point out that I do in the first instance leave them out on the doorstep in the hope that they might be collected!

Sorry don't know how people would view this but I at least get 3 a week from various charities wanting clothes & it's getting annoying.
So now I don't throw them away I now use the bags as bin liners & save money. Probably unethical but we're all feeling the squeeze & at least the bags are getting used :)

I use them for bin liners and for taking things to my regular charity shop - I turn them inside out first, so you can tell there are words there but can't read them very well.

I didn't ask for them to be put through my letter box - once they have been given to me, it's up to me how I use them, and the alternative would be for them to go into the bin. The charities must factor in to their costs that they will only get a percentage of the bags back.

I have also heard that not all the charities are completely as represented - I prefer to send my old clothes to somewhere that I know they will be used to support a charity that I am 100% happy with and will help people who need it.

This is correct - lots of the bags are issued by profit making companies who pledge to donate a certain amount of their profits to the charity. Much better to take stuff to the charity shops direct and even better if you Gift Aid it.

Been using them as bin bags for years too :)

I use them to sort my washing into lights/darks (I only have one linen basket) and to carry them downstairs to the washing machine.

I also take them on holiday to put our dirty washing in, with all good intentions of sorting the washing as we use it into lights/darks etc but that doesn't happen.
