2 questions about Home phone.

Sorted my mum out with home phone only from Mad as a Fish 12 months ago, unfortunately she has just learnt that Plusnet who own Mad as a Fish are discontinuing the service and they want to switch her to a PN product.
PN though don't offer a home phone only service and, I was a PN home phone and BB customer until I got the opportunity to get out and I don't want to lumber my mother with them as she'd have BB that she wouldn't use and, from my experience poor service and awful customer service.
So, my 2 questions: 1. If my mother is indeed out of contract, as I suspect, she can leave free of charge but if she isn't can she also leave without paying any remaining fees due to the fact that the change is being forced upon her? 2. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a decent company that provides a home phone only service?

Cheers, I'm going through the various options at the moment, including that one. So far Sky is cheaper than BT for the anytime calls package especially when you factor in the fact that they include calls to mobiles and, as I've good experience with them I'd be happy to recommend she switch to them.
Might have got there on my own but thanks for your input and of course, if anyone else wants to chip in with any other suggestions please doLive long and prosper0 -

If Mum only needs phone, then perhaps consider BT Home Phone Saver at £20.99pm with the price guaranteed to stay the same till 2018. This includes Anytime calls but not mobile calls. Sky's Anytime package would be £25.40 so it's dependent on how important inclusive mobile calls are.
Can't get the direct link to this but if you go here you'll find it. It was £19.99 but now £20.99 - still good value.

Thanks jem16, that's a good looking deal and I'm pretty sure she won't be bothered about the lack of mobile calls. The price guarantee until 2017 will sit very well with her.
I'll have a detailed look tomorrow.Live long and prosper0 -
BT Home Phone Saver includes unlimited Anytime calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers, caller ID, voicemail, half price calls to mobile numbers (6p per minute instead of 12p) and a few other features. At £20.99 per month, the price is just a few pounds more per month than BT line rental and is guaranteed until 2018. The deal also has inclusive calls to premium 0845 and 0870 numbers.
On long calls, hang up and re-dial before 59 minutes has elapsed in order to avoid the call becoming chargeable.
If you can avoid calling numbers starting 070, 084, 087 and 09, there should be no other charges.0 -
Have Plusnet actually refused to continue her phone only deal ???0

Zen Line Rental Plus is a bit more than BT, but the customer service is likely to be vastly better.0
