LG G3 damaged while in for repairs at Virgin Mobile

A few weeks back I sent my LG G3 (11 months old) in for repairs as the wifi wasn't working. A week later they sent it back, claiming it was out of warranty due to 'water damage' and now it doesn't work at all. They are denying all responsibility because of the 'water damage'. Obviosuly, it's not been in the water at all, and only been exposed to normal usage (in my suit pocket in the rain, in my pocket moving from outside to inside on a cold day, etc).
They told me there was massive corrosion inside (refusing to back this up in writing), and sent me a pictureof the insides of the phone with metal flaking off it. I've opened the phone up (nothing to lose when it doesn't work and is 'out of warranty') and there's no corrosion of bits flaking off it. They refuse this as well. Additionally, the battery (which I kept when the phone was sent off has a water damage indicator which shows no contact with water.

My feeling is that damage happened at the repair shop (UTL, apparently) and they have tripped the damage indicator to cover it up.

I've taken the complaint as far as I can with VM with no sucess.

I'm looking at goign to CISAS next, is there anything else I can do?

  • Is there anyone who can give me further advise with this? I'm still waiting for the formal close of complaints letter so i can escalte to CISAS, is that the best approach?
