Showers can cost more than baths. If your shower is over a bath, put the plug in and see how far the bath's filling up as you shower. If it's too much then set yourself a cut off point.

5 wash loads/week? Really? What are you doing....? That's way too much; you can't possibly be getting through that much stuff. Wash things less often. Things aren't dirty just because you used/wore them once (or twice).

Are you sure that £34 for 6 months is not because you started the billing period with some credit from the previous billing period?

You don't say who you are with for water and sewerage but with most companies the standing charges alone will be close, or exceed £34.
  • Cardew , On checking the bill ive noticed ive used 24 cubic metres M3 water in 6 months , I had a credit of £10.92 on previous bill in May , I have a fixed water charge of £41.69 per year , then a discount of £3.90 per year because im paying by DD....Im with Essex & Suffolk Water.....

For the sewerage im with Anglian Water , but Ive not had the bill in just yet , but its normally about a week after the water bill as arrived...

Essex and Suffolk water have a fixed charge of £37.10 pa for water and charge £1.501 per M3.

Anglian water have a fixed charge for sewerage of £86pa or £51pa - the higher charge if you pay for surface water charges.
Then you pay £1.5775 per M3 for sewerage.

So using 24 M3 in 6 months the water charges will be £18.55 + £36 for water and £26.50 + £37.86. Thus a total of £119 for 6 months or £136 if you pay for SWD.

Mine was that before I got a meter, now £18.40
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
